This page is a memorial to my brother Gregory Alan Mackley, of Pacific Grove, California. It will feature his artwork...both painting and photography. He used the name G. Alan when he painted, as well as his whole name for photography.
He was Very talented and left this world long before he should have! His passing left a hole in my heart and the best way I know how to help
heal the hole is to share his talents with all of you.
I have several pieces of Greg's paintings to scan. When they are done I will add them here. My family members also have several pieces too (including a charcoal) and hopefully when they find out what I am doing here they will loan the pieces to me to scan for this page.
I recently acquired some of his photography....just before his death his work was featured on the cover of Monterey Life Magazine in March of 1990, and he did work for several magazine advertisements of nationally known products.
I have some WONDERFUL transparencies of his travels to Sonoma Desert in AZ, and Yosemite in CA, they are quite breathtaking but expensive to transform to a medium I can use on the Web.
Work you will see here as soon as I can get it scanned:
This is a very early piece of work that Greg did....he was probably in his 20's when he did this one of his girlfriend. Sorry all I could find was an old picture I took back in 1971 that I came across...wish it was the real thing.
The above piece is a pencil sketch that Greg did after watching the movie "Play Misty for Me" with Clint Eastwood and Jessica Walter. Its also from pictures that I took of the his art that he had on display in 1971.
This acrylic Native American was done while Greg lived in Phoenix, Arizona. It is one of his BEST works, and is framed and hanging in my livingroom.
This was Gregs last piece of work and I cherish it. It is from Monterey Life: The Magazine of California's Spectacular Central Coast.... March 1990
"On the Cover: Redwoods and miner's lettuce on the Old Coast Road two miles from the cutoff at Bixby Bridge in Big Sur. ©c 1990 by Greg Mackley."
Come back often, chances are each of your visits will reveal a new piece I have added.
