I seek refuge in a corner
Of the shadow of my soul
Waiting patiently
Anticipating
The touch of the Dark One
I tremble in silence
Captured by a desire
So intense and so distant
My soul is on fire
I will wait, I will wait, I will wait

My image of Him? The Eloquent One
With thoughts that breathe
And words that burn
Yet in those words, a love so deep
I move a little closer to his feet

Ah, but then there is the defiant child
A challenge for Him there
She rebuffs him with smoldering obstinance
As she brushes back her hair
She stands up tall
And looks Him straight in the eye
She is a woman of strength
Whose spirit will never die

Tell me how I reconcile
These conflicting sentiments I feel
A battle is raging deep down inside
I can not stop it; I will not try

My fate is destiny
The inevitable ending is already written
Although I can not see the page...it is there still
The final page in a never ending book

When the moment arrives
Tender bittersweet
He will see it in my eyes
Not a look of defeat
But of volitional surrender
