Pronunciation of Panjabi

 It is highly recommended that you find someone that is already fluent in Panjabi to assist you with pronunciation; the following can be used as an initial guide.

The position of the tongue inside your mouth determines the pronunciation of the Panjabi sounds.

 

This is a cross-section through your head so that you know where your tongue should be placed to pronounce those letters different to English pronunciation.

 

 

 

 

The letters

are pronounced by curling the tongue backward and touching the lower side of your tongue on the hard palate.

 

 

 

The letters

are pronounced by touching the tip of your tongue with your teeth.

 

After some letters 'h' occurs, for example kh, th, th,chh,ph. These are pronounced with a strong puff of air.

 By practicing daily we can ensure our Panjabi is fluent in reading and pronunciation quickly.
