Pronunciation of Panjabi
It is highly recommended that you find
someone that is already fluent in Panjabi to assist you with pronunciation; the
following can be used as an initial guide.
The
position of the tongue inside your mouth determines the pronunciation of the
Panjabi sounds.
This is a cross-section through your head so
that you know where your tongue should be placed to pronounce those letters
different to English pronunciation.
The
letters

are
pronounced by curling the tongue backward and touching the lower side of your
tongue on the hard palate.
The
letters

are
pronounced by touching the tip of your tongue with your teeth.
After some letters 'h' occurs, for example kh, th, th,chh,ph. These are pronounced with a strong puff of
air.
By practicing daily we can ensure our
Panjabi is fluent in reading and pronunciation quickly.
