I really think that the Snitch button should be put back in FT..as well as keeping the ignore/unigore button for non-citizens to use if someone is making rude comments to them...as us Citizens, we should have a right to be able to snitch out people who ar being rude or whathaveyou in any chat room in FT..I mean hell we pay money to have some kind of protection against ourselves...and it gets taken away..for whatever reason it may be...I think that it should be put back for the protection of us citizens of FT. I have mixed feelings about these buttons. There seem to be downsides to both of them, which in the end kinda makes them even out. The snitch button only works when a certain amount of CITIZENS press it on the SAME person. The same Citizen could snitc on another person for hours and nothing would happen....theoretically speaking. I think your page saved me the time of saying what the downside to the snitch button is. The same goes for AOL users. If they are in a chat room and click on ignore, all the are ignoring is what that person is doing in the chat room. To ignore someone in IMs (Instant Messages), they must click on some other buttons. It's basically a no win situation for those here in WebTV users in FreeTown for now, until WebTV can figure o t how to get JAVA going on their system. At least FreeTown IS trying to better the system for the Citizens though, eh? They've come a LONG way since I've been coming to FreeTown. Hasta Lavista, baby! John Doe

I really don't find much use in the "IGNORE/UNIGNORE" button, it doesn't solve the harassment you get from others. Atleast if you were able to "snitch" someone, you'd get them to take their pathetic selves to pm land because they'd know if they get repor ed by others too, they'd be EXCLUDED .. but now...what can we do? I don't know why some would want the 'snitch' botton back.. There have been plenty of times where I was sitting in the lodge, just conversing with others. Because of the Java script,I have been having problems at FreeTown ever since I gota webtv Plus.From what I've heard from others...neither option works better.You can't ignore the pm's....but then again..snitch was often abused.It was my understanding tha cits who abused the snitch were the ones who got booted.The snitch was supposed to be recorded(including what the offensive person said)to keep chatters from being unfairly booted.I don't know..but I do know that there have been alot of changes in FT and most of them did nothing to improve the chat site.

I have not been to freetown much lately, but recently returned to find the ignore button. I have asked for the removal of the snitch button for years. Once you have been the victim of "snitch button abuse" you will understand how frustrating it can be. I love my fellow lodgers, I have enjoyed spending time with them. I also like to see our room trouble free...so I have a tendency to stand up to bullys...I DO NOT USE THE SNITCH BUTTON! The bullys have stood back up to me by abusing the snitch button, a d on many of my friends, to exclude us from freetown. I do understand your problems with the webtv...(former webtver here). I think chatters(especially those who have paid for citizenship privledges) shou d have some way to defend themselves against misuse of the chat site(harrassment,offensive behavior,etc.)no matter what thier mode of access is.After all,this is a MONITERED chat site,isn't it? However,even before the change,there was a problem.Even with he snitch button,response from FreeTown to take some kind of action against the reported person has always been slow,unreliable and in many cases ineffective.I hope this page and my comments may be of help in improving FreeTown for all.Thank you.
