BACKSTABBERS
by: Shila Hearns
Narrator: Keisha is in her second period class and the teacher is calling role. Sitting in back of Keisha is Nicole and Kim they are talking about a girl who they don't like very much.
Teacher: Lenthius?
Lenthius: Here.
Teacher: Harold?
Harold: Here.
Teacher: Keisha
Keisha: Here.
Nicole: (low voice) Bitch.
Kim: Who?
Nicole: You know who.
Kim: Oh.
Nicole: She come to school everyday thinking its all about her seditity ass.
Keisha: (turning around faces them) Who yall talking bout, Toya?
Nicole: Do it look like I'll be talking about my own cousin?
Narrator: Now look, they call themselves sooo bad! Why can't they just tell whom ever they are talking about, what they're saying to their face?
Keisha: I ain't know she was your cousin!
Nicole: So what you trying to say, my cousin seditity? Hoe I'll beatcho' ass!
Keisha: Ain't nothing but air and opportunity, whatchu wanna do?!
Kim: Nicole calm down!
Nicole: Nah, I ain't gon' calm down, this hoe talking about my cousin!
Keisha: Damn! I ain't know who you was talking bout!
Nicole: We was talking bout you!
Keisha: You know it ain't even bout all that, if you had something to say to me, you could've said it in my face. Not talk behind my back.
Nicole: You know you right...that's why I'm saying it now and now that I'm saying it, what the fuck you gon' do?!
Narrator: Nicole stood up over Keisha and started pushing her head with one finger.
Keisha: It ain't even necessary for all that, like I said before ain't nothing but air and opportunity.
Narrator: Now mind you, Keisha is still sitting in her chair sellin' out.
Nicole: Well get up then!
Narrator: Keisha jumped out of her chair and punched Nicole in her face. The teacher got up too.
Teacher: Call security!
Narrator: Nobody moved. The teacher didn't either and nobody broke it up. Kim jumped in and started hitting Keisha cause Nicole was getting beat. Keisha was thinking to herself 'I know she just did not jump in too!' Keisha beat both of them up. I forgot to tell yall Keisha could fight, I mean fight like man. I also forgot to tell you all that Keisha is very pretty, one of the prettiest girls in her school. Nobody like here for that reason, she never had any confidence and everybody knew it. So when they found that out they started playing on her insecurities and have been doing it ever since. The security guard took Keisha down to the principle's office.
Principle: So Miss Harris, Zakeisha right?
Keisha: Yes.
Principle: What's was the significance of you fighting with those two girls. Obviously you started it.
Keisha: No, see that's where you're wrong, they started with me, sitting in back of me, talking bout me, thinking I wasn't going to hear them.
Principle: Now why would they do that?
Keisha: How the hell should I know? I guess they ain't know me too well.
Principle: Watch your language!
Keisha: You the one who accusing me of starting a fight with that bitch.
Principle: You got one more time to use that type of language in my office, in this school for that matter.
Keisha: (giving him nothing but attitude) And what you gon' do, suspend me? You was gon' do that anyway.
Principle: Does your mother know about your attitude?
Keisha: Does you mother know about yo' stuck up ass?
Principle: That's it young lady, I'm calling your mother!
Keisha: You want me to dial the number for you?
Narrator: Oh something else I forgot to mention (yall probably think I ain't doing a good job huh? Well yall ain't paying me so you gotta deal wit it), she has this bad attitude because of all she has went through, being ridiculed by people. The principle called Keisha's house but no one was home so he left a message for her mom. School finally got out and on Keisha's way home she was stopped by the red light and Tiffany pulled up next to her. Tiffany is a good friend of Keisha's. Keisha winds her window down.
Tiffany: I heard about your fight today, what happened?
Keisha: Girl, I'm tired, I'll call you when I get home.
Tiffany: I'm not going home right now.
Keisha: Where are you going?
Tiffany: Umm…to the mall.
Keisha: Oh, well, call me when you get home.
Tiffany: Alright.
Narrator: Keisha finally got home and her mother was sitting at the table.
Mom: I got a message from your principle today.
Keisha: Yeah, and?
Mom: I know I don't look like one of those damn teachers at that school, I will slap yo' ass.
Keisha: Nah Ma I'm saying that girl was talking about me right behind me and then she gon' size me bout it and dare me to do something.
Mom: You know I don't fault you for doing what you had to do, but cussing at the principle Keisha, you know I don't mind you cursing here but not to somebody like your principle. I mean how does that make me look?
Keisha: I'm saying though Ma, I ain't never like that man cause he always had something to say about somebody. I guess he thinks that bitch perfect, Ma she had a lot of nerve. I guess she thought I wasn't going to do anything. Ma I tell you them hoes out there don't know me too well.
Mom: Well I don't want to hear about it anymore, o.k.
Keisha: Thanks Ma, cause I don't want to talk about it anymore.
Mom: Oh, Diokko called you.
Narrator: Now I bet yall wanna know who Diokko is, don't you? Why yall just can't figure things out for yall selves. Well I guess that's what I'm here for, huh? Like I said before, I ain't getting paid for this, but you know any type of donation will help. I be telling the story, and you don't show any kind of appreciation. Oh I'm sorry, hope I wasn't rude or anything. I get a little emotional from time to time. But anyway back to the story. Keisha called Diokko and his brother, David answers the phone.
David: Yeah.
Keisha: David where is...no, let me speak to your brother.
David: I don't think he's here.
Keisha: Do you happen to know where he is?
David: Umm...nah? I don't know.
Narrator: David see Diokko walking by his room.
David: (pointing at the phone, whispering) Dee, Dee! Keisha on the phone.
Diokko: (talking soft) Damn! Why you ain't tell her I wasn't here?
David: (whispering) I did! Man come get the phone. She probably heard you already. (louder now so that Keisha could hear) Dee, that's you? Keisha on the phone.
Diokko: Tell her I'll call her back.
David: (to Keisha) He say he'll call you back.
Keisha: Tell him to get the phone.
David: (to Diokko) She said get on the phone.
Diokko: (to David, whispering)Damn man, you know I got that girl in there! (on the phone) Yeah.
Keisha: Come over here.
Diokko: Man I'm fina go? If I come over there, we gon' do something?
Keisha: No!
Diokko: Well I ain't coming then.
Keisha: Bitch that's all you want me for?
Diokko: Damn baby I'm just playing.
Keisha: Don't play like that.
Diokko: I'll be there in about an hour or two.
Keisha: Alright but why so long?
Diokko: Cause I got something to do.
Keisha: Alright, you want me to cook you something?
Diokko: You gon cooked?
Keisha: What you want?
Diokko: Whatever, it don't matter.
Keisha: Ok.
Narrator: The hang up. Diokko is really cute, no problem with getting females as you can see. As the ghetto narrator that I am, I have opinions about these people I'm telling you about, and my opinion is that I don't like this Diokko but, but Keisha is in love with him. He talking bout he had something to do, he gon be bout an hours or two. He ain't no good, that's what he is. He got there in about an hour and 45 minutes, you know he had to show "no evidence" of him doing anything wrong. He knocks on the door, Keisha goes to open it.
Keisha: Hey.
Narrator: She was sitting on the couch watching Clueless. After she spoke she returned to her seat and continued watching Clueless. Diokko closes the door.
Diokko: Damn Keisha I don't get no hug, no "I missed you today" kiss?
Narrator: Keisha got up and gave him a quick emotionless hug.
Keisha: What's up.
Diokko: Where she scratched you at?
Keisha: What?! Damn how you know?
Diokko: You know I know everybody and anything that happen to you I'm going to find out whether you like it or not.
Keisha: I didn't get bruised or scratched at all.
Diokko: So you wuped both they ass?
Keisha: You know I did.
Diokko: Look at my baby. So what happened?
Keisha: Her and Kim, well she was talking to Kim about me. Now she sit directly behind me. So you know this and that. Then I just tagged dat hoe and Kim jumped in and that was it. But Kim did hit me once when she first jumped in…
Diokko: Where, so I can kiss it.
Keisha: Anyway! The principle said I started it, I cussed him out then he called ma and that was that.
Diokko: Where is ma anyway?
Keisha: Upstairs sleep.
Diokko: Oh, what you cooked?
Keisha: Spaghetti.
Diokko: Whaat...how you knew I wanted that? You got garlic bread too?
Keisha: Yeah in the kitchen...gotta warm it up though, you took faever!
Diokko: I told you I had something to do! (changing the subject) Why you watch that dumb show?
Keisha: Oh shit, I forgot it was on, talking to you…Shh!
Diokko: Tell me no damn "shh", you fixed my plate?
Keisha: In the kitchen on the counter.
Narrator: Diokko walks in the kitchen to get his food. When he walks back in, Keisha gives him a seductive look, on of those "I want you now" looks.
Diokko: Why you looking at me like that, you said we wasn't gon do nothing. You can hang it up now I'm fina eat.
Keisha: You know I be lying.
Diokko: You scarred now, much as I want to, baby, I'm hungry.
Keisha: Damn that's fucked up.
Diokko: (mouth full) Don't take it like that man, besides your mama's here.
Keisha: What that mean, you act like we ain't never did it while she was here?
Diokko: We didn't!
Keisha: You a damn lie. Remember when…
Diokko: Never mind my nigga, I don't wanna know.
Keisha: But I'm saying…
Diokko: No man! What, what you say…nothing no, no!!
Keisha: No problem.
Diokko: Don't start no shit man and you bet not get mad.
Keisha: Me get mad? Come on now, come better.
Narrator: Diokko ate his food and when he finished, then he wanted some. He started kissing on her.
Keisha: Stop Diokko!
Diokko: Man you know you want to.
Keisha: No, leave me alone!
Diokko: You always take me through some type of changes when it comes to me, you, and sex.
Keisha: Diokko don't even try that shit. When I wanted to, what did you say "I'm hungry". You always give me the excuse first. You act like you just got through fucking, that's why when it comes time for me and you to do it, its always some excuse.
Diokko: (mumbling) You right, I be done fucked somebody else.
Keisha: Out of all these times we had a chance to have sex we only did it three times.
Diokko: You lying we've done it more than three times.
Keisha: No, it was three and that's real messed up, how long we been together?
Diokko: (laughing) O.k, we gon try to do it more.
Keisha: Diokko this shit ain't funny, I'm serious.
Narrator: Keisha phone rings. Diokko answers.
Diokko: Hello?
Tiffany: What da hell you doing over there?
Diokko: This my lady house, bitch I ain't got to answer no questions of yours.
Tiffany: Whatever! Where's Keisha.
Diokko: Keep slick rapping and get hung up on.
Tiffany: FUCK NIGGA put Keisha on the fucking phone.
Narrator: He hung up on her.
Keisha: Who was that?
Diokko: Your friend the hoe.
Keisha: Don't be hanging up on my friends.
Narrator: Keisha calls Tiffany back.
Tiffany: Yeah girl.
Keisha: What's up?
Tiffany: Tell Diokko go to hell! Anyway, girl what happened in school?
Keisha: You know in my second period, Nicole and Kim sit in back of me, right, anyway they were talking bout me. So Nicole jumped up in my face…
Tiffany: I can't stand that hoe.
Keisha: I tagged Nicole and Kim jumped in and that was it. You know I wuped they ass so I need not tell you that.
Diokko: How the hell you just gon' neglect me to talk to a hoe?
Keisha: Diokko shut the hell up. (to Tiffany) Girl I'ma call you back later.
Tiffany: Alright.
Narrator: They hang up.
Keisha: Diokko, why do you act like that everytime me and her talk?
Diokko: Man I don't like that hoe.
Keisha: Why?
Diokko: Cause she a hoe.
Keisha: How do you know that?
Diokko: Cause my nigga…
Keisha: I'm listening.
Diokko: Man I don't wanna talk about her anymore. If it'll make you happy I'll stop talking bout her, o.k.
Keisha: Please.
Narrator: He gives her a kiss.
Keisha: That kiss don't mean you getting some.
Diokko: Damn I can't try?
Narrator: Diokko left around 11:30. The next day in school, Keisha went to first period as usual and sat next to Vernon.
Vernon: (announcing) Tyson has entered the room and taken her seat.
Narrator: The entire class laughs, even the teacher.
Vernon: So how are you feeling this morning?
Keisha: I'm str…
Narrator: Vares enters the room. His loudness interrupted Keisha.
Vares: Get you ass up Vernon, I called dibs on sitting next to Keisha.
Keisha: Vares you can sit on my right side
Vares: Nah my nigga, he can't sit no where near you cause you gon give him all your attention.
Keisha: No, I'm not, I promise I'll give it all to you.
Vernon: Alright man, just do me like that.
Keisha: Damn I can't please both of yall.
Vares: So what tat tell you, you posed to ignore that nigga.
Keisha: Whatever you say Vares.
Narrator: Those three clowned the whole period through. When class was over Keisha ran in to Kim.
Kim: Bitch, you so worried about me and Nicole…
Keisha: Get out my face man.
Kim: Believe me I can't stand the sight, but um, you better watch out cause somebody fucking your man. You so worried bout me and Kim you better watch out for whoever doing your man. (laughing)It could be one of us doing him too, but you can never tell bout these things.
Keisha: Hoe get out my face.
Narrator: Kim walked away laughing. Keisha walked away as well, running into Tiffany.
Keisha: Girl, I ain't gon tell you, Kim just gon' come up to me and tell me somebody doing Diokko.
Tiffany: Girl I know.
Keisha:You know and you ain't tell me!
Tiffany:I meant um...she said that to me too.
Narrator: They start walking to their class. On their way to third period, (they're on block scheduling) they run into Damien. (Damien is about 5'11", dark pretty black, a chest!, he just got a perfect body and he got bread with a raw dress code and smart too. He likes Tiffany but she won't give him the time of day.)
Damien: Hey Tiffany…What's up Keisha.
Keisha: Hi Damien.
Narrator: Tiffany ain't say anything.
Keisha: Damn girl, speak.
Tiffany: (tiredly) What's up Damo.
Narrator: She said that so unconcerned. She's starting to make me not like her. You know she ain't got to do that boy like that. She can at least be nice even if she don't like the boy.
Keisha: Anyway, fuck you man, you ain't got to act like that. (to Damien) So what's up Damien?
Narrator: Tiffany was just about to open her mouth to say something slick but Keisha gave her one of those "I'll beat your ass if you say something" looks and she just didn't say anything.
Damien: Nothing, chilling, heard bout you little altercation.
Keisha: That shoal what it was, little.
Narrator: Tiffany looked at the two of them and walked away, Diokko walked up behind Keisha with a hug and he kissed her on her neck.
Damien: I think that mean I should leave.
Diokko: Nah Damo, you can stay.
Keisha: No Damien, I think you better leave cause I don't believe you wanna see your boy cry.
Damien: Cool.
Diokko: Who gon' cry?
Damien: Alright now.
Diokko: Yeah boy.
Keisha: (to Diokko)What you doing here? Can I ask you a question?
Narrator: Damien walks to his class.
Diokko: That's two questions, I felt like comin out here...What's the other question?
Keisha: Are you doing Kim or Nicole?
Narrator: He didn't say anything, he just stood there with his mouth open.
Keisha: I know you hear me. Are you fucking Kim, Nicole?!
Diokko: Who told you that shit?
Keisha: Don't worry bout all that. Are you or aren't you?
Diokko: Man who told you that?
Keisha: Damn Diokko, why you can't answer the question? Never mind I already got my answer. Fuck you, I ain't got shit else to say to you.
Diokko: Keisha listen.
Narrator: Keisha walked to her class with everybody's eyes on her. When she got into class and sat in her desk, she just burst out into tears. The teacher walks up.
Teacher: Keisha, Keisha what's wrong?
Keisha: (softly) Nothing, he make me sick.
Narrator: The teacher is a woman. Her name is Terry. No not Ms. Terry. That's what she allows her students to call her.
Terry: Would you like to talk about what happened?
Keisha: Terry I hate him.
Terry: Don't say that...you're talking about Diokko, right?
Keisha: He used to tell me he loved me, does he know how I feel about those words right now?
Terry: Keisha, just cause he made a little mistake doesn't mean he don't love you.
Keisha: (in a loud rage) Little! Little! Is doing Kim little, or Nicole, who ever!
Terry: Oh, well I…
Keisha: You're lost for words. Same as he was when I asked him about it just now.
Narrator: Keisha is really devastated. How he gon' do that to her, she deserves better after all she's been through. Right now I'm really not liking Diokko. Keisha continued class in a normal state. After class Diokko was standing at the door so he could talk to her. When Keisha walked by she tried her best to ignore him.
Diokko: Keisha, Keisha listen.
Narrator: Why the hell he don't leave her alone? She didn't respond. She kept walking.
Diokko: Dammit Keisha listen!
Narrator: She turned around in rage.
Keisha: No muthafucker, you listen. How the fuck you gon' keke in my face and know you fucking some other girl? Make it so bad I trusted you. How you gon' let me down. How you gon throw all what we had away? You knew not one girl in this school likes me, but no, you couldn't keep your dick down so what happened just happened right. Fuck me, I just wasn't supposed to know, how long was you planning to keep this from me.
Diokko: (taking a deep breath to calm himself) I ain't fuck nan one of them girls.
Keisha: Now you fina lie? You can Tiffany a hoe, but they are girls...yeah right Diokko!
Diokko: Man, I ain't touch them hoes.
Keisha: So why would Kim tell me some shit like that? Huh? Your lying ass. Nasty hoes, too!
Diokko: (angry and loud) Man I ain't fuck nan one of them, I fucked Tiffany.
Keisha: What?!
Diokko: (softly) I had sex with Tiffany.
Keisha: Ugh! Ugh! Oh really!.
Narrator: She just started crying. Tiffany came walking down the hallway.
Tiffany: (loud) What's wrong with her, Diokko what have you done to her now?
Diokko: Bitch, fuck you!
Keisha: How many times Diokko?
Tiffany: (confused) How many times?! What?!
Diokko: Bout six.
Keisha: How long ago?
Diokko: Yesterday.
Tiffany: Yest…er…oh!
Keisha: When?
Diokko: When she told you she was going to the mall. She didn't, she came over to my house. That's why when you called I said I'll be bout an hour or two was sleep and that's why I really didn't want to yesterday.
Narrator: Nasty, oh just plain nasty! Keisha walked over and slapped Tiffany.
Keisha: Not one time did you attempt to tell me, but you supposed to be my friend. Nor did you two think to stop. But you know what, you all can have each other.
Diokko: Keisha, don't do this. I love you man!
Keisha: You don't love me! I ain't do shit, yall did this to yourselves.
Narrator: Keisha walked away and went home. She didn't fill up to staying in school. When she got home her mother was sitting at the kitchen table.
Keisha: Ma, its over.
Ma: You alright.
Narrator: Her mother automatically knew what she was talking about. Keisha had been threw this type so much it really didn't faze either o
