Norman Galt (her first husband) says: Ah! What can I say about the first time I met Edith Bolling? What was it that attracted me to her? Was it her beauty? She was beautiful, but there was more to her. She was smart and funny, I immediately liked her. We met in 1892 when Edith was visiting her sister in Washington. I don’t know what it was about me that attracted Edith. I would like to think it was my charming ways and good looks. I was wealthy and was to inherit the biggest jewelry stores in Washing but Edith loved me, not my money. I would have liked to marry Edith right away, but she insisted that we wait 4 years. That was hard! Edith and I were blessed with a precious baby boy 8 years into our marriage. Tragically, he lived only three days. In our 12 years of happy marriage we have been able to grow in our love by traveling together overseas many times. Our favorite place to visit is Ireland. |
