Back in 1992 as an early teen my father dragged me to a Beach Boy concert. I only agreed to go as my father promised he would take to a Metalica concert a week later. I'm ashamed to admit now that I simply was not interested in a bunch of "old surfing farts." However after the first number, "california Girls" I was hooked. What stunned me even more though was Carl Wilson singing "God only Knows." The man truly has the voice of an angel. When Carl passed away I have to admit it was quiet devestating. I have never met him but because you will hear his voice almost every morning in our house he was like family.

Shortly before he passed away, I sent a message to Carl to tell him how much he and his music meant to me. I mentioned that I was praying for him. I'm glad I got to tell him just how special he was, and just how much he enriched all our lives. I think he as surprised that someone from Scotland was a long-time fan. I grew up with the Beach Boys sound and have been hooked ever since. In January of 1998, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I was stunned to read of Carl's death from the same disease on February 6 as my surgery was scheduled on February 8. I was lucky hat mine was caught early. I consider Carl a brother and my recovery will keep his memory alive.

I had the great privilage of meeting Carl at his last performance at the New York State Fair. He was kind enough to give us back stage passes through my brother in law in California. I have never met a more caring person than Carl. Little did I know that y daughter would later be diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. I have often wished that the two could have met. I know Carl would have been there to support Mandy in her difficult journey through this most trying illness

In the summer of 1987, myself and a bunch of kids from our high school newspaper thought it would be a good idea to do an article on what we did during our summer vacation. We decided to go to a Beach Boys concert just to make fun of the "old, over- the- ill rock stars" not because we were fans. We all thought their surf music was nothing but fluff, silly 50's type stuff. We had backstage passes one of the kids father was able to get for us, so we could interview them for our school paper. The concert wed us, we couldn't believe the music. It wasn't the music we thought we were going to hear, it was deep, moving music that touched our souls. We quickly changed our minds about the Beach Boys, their music spanned generations and Carl's voice was amazin . When we met them they were all nice but Carl was something else. He was so sweet. He talked to us for a long time. He was interested in our other school activities. Some of the guys were in the school jazz band and Carl talked to them about the mus c they played and how important he thought fine arts was in the schools. He took so much time with us, seemed honestly interested in what we said. He was really a "cool" person. Needless to say he changed our arrogant minds as to what was cool and not has been" or over-the-hill. Since his death I've often thought of meeting him and how lucky we were to be taught a very valuable lesson from such a nice man, and that lesson was to simply be nice to people and not to think you are so important no one els matters. People mattered to Carl Wilson, he was never too big a star to talk to a bunch of stupid high school kids who thought they knew it all.

I am a Beach Boys fan, and I think they have done a great thing by trying to fight against this terrible disease through this annual walk-a-thon. More importantly, it is a great way to honour and remember a celebrated performer. Regrettably, I never got to see Carl or any of the other Beach Boys perform live, but I'm thankful that their CDs will always be made available. Carl Wilson was an exceptional guitarist and vocalist. He will be missed. I also sympathize with the fact that he had died of cancer because it recently claimed the life of one of my relatives (she had breast cancer). Please let this walk against cancer continue!

I would just like to take a couple of minutes to tell you all that I think what you are all doing is fabulous. I can't even begin to tell you how I felt when I learned of Carl's death from cancer. I have been a devoted Beach Boys fan for 17 long years n w; and I attended concerts for at least 10 years. The last four or five concerts of theirs that I attended, I did not sit in the stands, I stood on the track; and getting to see Carl perform up close and personal was a real treat. It really saddens me t think of attending other Beach Boys concerts without getting to see Carl perform again. He was a tremendous member of the band who really enjoyed what he did. Well Done.

To Carl; A Sweet Spirit of Sublte Strength All you have to do is look in the eyes of this man and see the dearest heart of kindness, a most decent and altruistic nature, steadfast in his love for his brothers, a patient subtle strength, someone you'd want for a brother or friend for yourself. XXOO More Thoughts; After seeing the Endless Harmony video, I have to say that I've gained so much respect for him for having the courage to step up in Brian's place, become the lead by default, as it were, and "carry that weight" (to use a Beatles phrase). I remember think ng when I was a kid seeing them on TV how he/they (The Beach Boys) never really looked very happy.. never really smiled that much. Knowing the background now, I see why, the emotional weight of what they were going through.. you can tell that Carl really missed Brian performing with them, and I'm sure was in a lot of pain worrying about him. But you could see that glimpse of happiness in his eyes when Brian was on stage with them in that clip where Carl is wearing a green jacket, ( I think it was aroung 980?) when he was singing 'Oh Darlin', and then said, "I'd like to take a moment to thank our beloved Brian for creating all that beautiful music". I really would have loved to have known him personally. He just feels like a brother to me. What a heartwa ming personality he had! He just seemed so friendly, and down to earth, .. decent.. , you know? (well, I'm sure you do!) I wish I could give him a big hug right now. Well, maybe in heaven, right? Sincerely, Adrienne

Saw the Beach Boys for the first time in Oakland when I was only 13.Screamed my bloody head off, I did! Saw them as often as I could, no matter where we moved to. Liked to try and jump the fence to get closer. It was an awesome experience for a kid-those ays-and the Beach Boys music was the music of my young life. The best of my life. Had the pleasure of growing up in the time that they grew up, watched and listened as they improved musically. The 60's were magic times. All young people were somehow conne ted in spirit and the music was the glue, the thing that joined us. The Beach Boys were the soundtrack to many young lives, through the good and the bad. Theirs and ours. I was sick at heart when Carl died.I didn't know this man at all, but it felt like I did. I was surprised at my own reaction to his death. I never had a favorite Beach Boy that I could tell you about for sure, until Carl left this earth, then I kind of kn w. Maybe it was because he was close to my age. Maybe it was because he seemed like a young boy til the end, I don't know. I guess I just wasn't ready for things and people I loved (even at a distance) to be part of the past. That's the hardest part, sayi g goodbye and we will miss you, Carl. Bye, Carl!

July 4, 1995 in Phila. the beach boys played a free concert and my friends and family went(in the rain) and had a great time. The concert was on TV and I taped it. The next day I watched it, and although their skills had diminished, I broke into tears ju t watching them bring happiness to me and my family as they had for 22 years(for me). Carl was the heart and soul of this band and his voice will live on forever in my heart and my mind.

I last saw Carl in the summer of 1997, when the Beach Boys were touring with Chicago. they sounded great, and even though Carl knew his days were numbered he put everything he could into the Beach Boys' performance that night, and they sounded great. So sad to lose him. He was the glue that held the band together for many years.

my brother and i were big beach boys fans and follow them around them on their tours dates eagerly waiting for them to come to buffalo. went to every concert of theirs and always played they're music every single day. and still do carl was and alw ys will be my favorite guy. and not seeing him in concert anymore will be to hard on me. my heart will always go out to brian, mike, al, bruce and wish best things for them, even though they lost dennis long time ago and still is a shock to me but t lose carl it hurts even more . our love go out to the surviving beach boys.

The Beach Boys have had a major impact on my life, since hearing their first record in 1964. I attended concerts in Cardiff Wales, Wembley Stadium in 1976 in London and again in Toronto. Carl was an outstanding musician and one of the all time top singers of this century. Trader is my personal favourite song by Carl. I unfortunately went through a similar ordeal at exactly the same time as Carl and have survived thanks to the advances and fantastic health care Ontario provides. The loss of Carl Wilson was one of the saddest events in the history of popular music. His voice was without doubt one of the most, beautiful, emotional and unique voices ever heard. Although his song writing output was small, by comparison with his big b other, he managed to produce some of the best BB songs of all. To me Feel Flows equals Good Vibrations on all levels.
