Hippies and Music

Another important aspect of the hippy culture was music. Music was written to express the emotions and personal ideas and thoughts of the average person. There were many important figures relating to the music that the hippies loved. Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Rolling Stones, and many other men and women that produced the music that was played on the radios and guitars and has been sung on the lips of every hippy of the generation. Music gave light to the sad things around them, and advertised their feelings and shared them with those who had a mind to listen and understand. It was a way to get out anger and frustration and to relax, and to also have a good time - music then basically symbolized the same to them, as it does now to us. For many it was their way of life.

Then next time that you put in any Cd, tape, or 8-track with music from that era, listen to the words and fall into the time when music and love were abundant and welcome in every heart.

Please check out these sites if you are interested in music from the 60's, and would like to make your own conlusions about some of the music that the Hippes of Then listened to - and still do.
