Away Messages and the Secret to Life

Away Message for GerryManDer33: getting ready to continue the streak at blake, cutting cards, leave one.

Away Message for LaxGirl02: reading the economist and doing my nails, leave me some love!

Hmm. Interesting, Melissa Rubenstein thought. Very interesting.

This meant two things.

One: Gerald Foucault was not only proud of his hideously illicit win, he was mounting a challenge for Blake Forest.  Ugh.

Two: Christine Dillard actually knew what the Economist was?

Interesting.

Melissa put up an away message and went into the bathroom.  She stared into the mirror for a moment, feeling drained.  She didnt want to think about Gerry.  She wanted to sleep.

SenatorKamaSutra logged on at 9:15:03 pm.

Away Message for AllieKat02: over at the bfs, be home in a few.

Away Message for PlcyDb8Grl01: i just want some sushi and sleep.  call me if you can help with either.

Hmmm. Interesting, Joseph Dexter Bailis thought.  Very interesting.

This meant two things.

One: Allie Douglass from Heidegger has a boyfriend. Damn.

Two: Melissa Rubenstein from Hatch is feeling lonesome tonight.  Hmmmm.

Interesting.

Joseph Dexter Bailis liked women.  Any women.  Successful women.  Smart women.  Women.

Melissa Rubenstein was a woman.  His type of woman.  Not in his normal pursuit-of-attention manner.  In his honest attraction manner.  He had flirted with her at CFL Nationals the year before, loitering around the policy and ld rounds with Jeff Princeton after he didn't break to finals.  Something to do to pass the time.  Allie was out of the picture obviously.  Interesting.

SenatorKamaSutra: hey melissa

Auto response from PlcyDb8Grl01: i just want some sushi and sleep. call me if you can help with either.

PlcyDb8Grl01: bailis? hey, whats up.

SenatorKamaSutra: not much, was thinking of getting some sushi, want to come?

PlcyDb8Grl01: oh right! you live up near me.  i totally forgot since you don't go to hatch.  sure, we can catch up.

SenatorKamaSutra: great.  hey, sorry about the cfl by the way.  i'm sure you got shafted.

PlcyDb8Grl01: no kidding.  ok, i'll meet you at Yamato in fifteen?

SenatorKamaSutra: sounds good to me.

GerryManDer returned from away at 10:20:04 pm.

Away message for PlcyDb8Grl01: getting sushi with my favorite fidelity prepper, joe... call the cell.

Interesting.

This meant one thing.

Gerry had correctly predicted the return of Joseph Dexter Bailis as a complication of his pursuit of Melissa Rubenstein.  CFLs had been interesting, where Gerry had first really stepped up his efforts to win Melissa's affections.  And that Joseph kid...just kept getting in the way.  Gerry had hoped Joseph was just a one time abberation.

He knew Melissa must have picked up at CFLs that he was no fan of Joseph Dexter Bailis.

Interesting.

GerryManDer: hey melissa, when you get back, i want to apologize for everything that happened.

Auto response from PlcyDb8Grl01: getting sushi with my favorite fidelity prepper, joe...call the cell.

GerryManDer: because I feel terrible about it all and want to explain because it looked worse than it was.

GerryManDer: ok, well, have fun with joe.

PlcyDb8Grl01 returned from away at 11:12:04 pm.

Away message for GerryManDer: its never a good nights sleep when you feel like a bad person.

Interesting.

Melissa read the messages left by Gerry.  She was still fuming.  But there's something to be said for repentance in the debate world, perhaps.

SenatorKamaSutra: hey, thanks for going to get sushi with me

PlcyDb8Grl01: oh no problem! it was so great hanging out with you again.  you were so much fun at CFLs, after all!

SenatorKamaSutra: oh you have no idea, baby

PlcyDb8Grl01: maybe we can get together for coffee later this week?

SenatorKamaSutra: i'm down for that.  e-mail me or something.

PlcyDb8Grl01: will do.

SenatorKamaSutra: goodnight, melissa

Away message for SenatorKamaSutra: oh you can bet its sweet dreams.

Melissa was so conflicted.  But so intrigued.  Sushi had gone well.  Gerry was begging forgiveness.  Suddenly, everything's coming up roses.

GerryManDer returned from away at 11:35:04 pm.

Away message for SenatorKamaSutra: oh you can bet its sweet dreams.

Away message for PlcyDb8Grl01: sleeping off a great night of sushi and conversation.

Interesting.

And quite dismal.

GerryManDer: Warner, dude, Melissa is getting with the mule.

MasterDb8r: how fitting.

GerryManDer: I'm so....I don't even know.

MasterDb8r: i don't know what the hell is going on there, but i think its funny.

GerryManDer: whatever.  that joseph kid is such a sleaze.

MasterDb8r: let it go man.  hey - do you have any of the novices IM names?

GerryManDer: no, let me ask Kunjan.

GerryManDer: hey kunjan, do you have novice IM names?

BrownPimp2: yeah, the congress ones.

GerryManDer: what are they?

BrownPimp2: blanca is Guapa5000 and amy is Btrfly7432.

GerryManDer: thanks.

GerryManDer: blanca is Guapa5000 and amy is Btrfly7432.

MasterDb8r: thanks.

GerryManDer: what do you need them for?

MasterDb8r: nothing.  amy is the brunette girl, right?

GerryManDer: right, the congress one.

MasterDb8r: great.

Btrfly7432 logged on at 12:40:05 am.

MasterDb8r: amy? this is warner from debate.

Btrfly7432: warner! hey! whats up?

MasterDb8r: not much, just wanted to say hi.

Btrfly7432: alright, thanks!

The long awkward pauses are so great online.

Btrfly7432: well, i've got to sleep, gnight warner!

MasterDb8r: night

Away message for Btrfly7432: this debate stuff is giving me the weirdest dreams ever. night, all!

Warner could only hope.

Will Warner ever be a good online conversationalist?

Does Gerald really advocate biased congressional redistricting?

Would you like fries with that?
