Hi! And welcome to my page dedicated to those
adorable things so many of us love...Beanie Babies! You will
only find fun and info on Beanie Babies by Ty here.
I've been collecting them since 95 and just never
got into all the ones that copied them. :)
Don't know what a Beanie Baby is?
Well here is a good explanation:
A Beanie is a bean bag soft toy, just like the ones you may have had as a child. Nowadays of course, they are
not filled with real beans, for reasons of safety and hygiene, but with PVC or PE pellets. Beanies are made by
many different companies, but the most collectable (and the best!) ones are made by Ty Inc.
Who are Ty Inc.?
The TY Company of Oak Brook, Illinois, U.S.A., is a supplier of
soft toys. they make several different ranges
of toys, Ty Plush are larger toys, Ty Pillow Pals are medium size
toys, Ty Attic Treasures are old fashioned
style toys in a variety of sizes, and, of course, then there are
Beanie Babies!
In 1993 Ty Inc. introduced a new range of small, pocket
money
priced (supposed to be $5 or less) bean bag toys,
the Beanie Babies. Very soon
though, adults started collecting
these toys, and the Beanie Craze
took off.
The collectabilty of Beanie Babies was enhanced by the
fact that twice a year Ty Inc. started to "retire"
or discontinue some of the
current range, and introduce
new ones. Lately however, they've been retiring Beanie Babies
at random, we never know when it's going to happen!

If you want to collect Beanie Babies, the best
place to start is by
looking around your local
shops, toy shops, card and gift shops,
department
stores, and specialist soft toy retailers, Ty Inc. tend
to supply only independant retailers, so look in these rather than
the national or multi-national chain stores.
