Jobs I've had
through the years in cronological order:
- Construction helper (with
family, just keep the bricks and mud coming)
- Fast Food Service Worker
(cheeseburger, cheeseburger, coke, coke)
- Electronic Technician (I
helped wire the giant control board for the NYC subway
system while it was in the factory)
- Radio Operator (US Army)
- Field Radio Repair (US Army,
on the job training, the radio operator position bored
me, and the Army co-operated)
- Radio TV Repair (I remember
the service charge to look at a set was $18.00 back then)
- Computer Terminal Technician
(pre-microprocessor times, we are talking Decwriters and
teletypes with 300 baud max throughput)
- Senior Electronic Technician
(Pay TV decoders, anyone remember WHT?)
- Electronics Instructor
(Lecture nights were hell, but lab nights were a breeze!)
- Field Service Technician,
Communications systems (Is one police car radio down at
3am in the morning really an emergency? Oh, you only have
two cars...)
- Transmitter Engineer (This
would have been a great job if we didn't air the PTL
Club, with Jim Baker, every damn morning! And Tammy, the
makeup did nothing for you. Have you ever seen her cry,
she looked like a raccoon afterwards)
- Light Bulb Telemarketer (This
was the armpit of my entire working career, but when I
moved to Seattle, I was willing to do anything to make a
go at it!)
- Business Owner: Construction
(Back to the old family business that I went into
electronics to avoid)
