the daily recap of steven's health
[5/22/99] today he crashed. what happened basically was: he was going off a curb, and his handlebars most likely got twisted in mid-air, and he landed wrong. he landed on his right side, to the left of the bike. his entire right side of his face is pretty torn up with road rash, and he lost his two front teeth. they took him to the hospital, and put his teeth back in three hours after the incident. he came home, and was feeling pretty bad. his right hand has a large (basically) hole in it, his right arm and left wrist are scraped up, and his right leg is scraped up as well. his face still looks pretty bad, but he has yet to fully wash up. more details on tomorrow.
[5/23/99] day two, and his face looks a lot better than yesterday. my parents washed him up and put a lot of neosporin on his face. he can eat, but not many things. he still can't use his right hand, and hasn't seen the dentist yet. he will be going to the oral surgeon for a look at the damage, and what needs to be done. a whole bunch of people have been calling to see if he's alright. he's got about 10 days to heal before he's allowed back at school.
[5/24/99] steven went to the dentist today to have his teeth checked out, and the verdict is in. he has to have them pulled back out, then in 10 days he'll get a flipper. a flipper is basically a retainer with two front teeth attatched to it. he'll have to wear that every day until he turns about 18-20 (or when his mouth stops growing) at which time he'll get implants. either way, it'll make his teeth look a lot better than they were with the real ones. he gets them out tomorrow, and i will give a detailed report then. as for now, he is still looking better than ever, but his hand is still really bad. he can eat a bit more now, and he's beginning to have visitors.
[5/25/99] the teeth are out! the process went very smoothly, and he looks better than when the teeth were in, because they put them in backwards (number 8 where 9 went, and vice versa) too. he can't eat things as well as he could with the teeth, but now he can close his mouth without having to worry about knocking the teeth around. i finally got to see the hand, since he unwrapped it to let it breathe a bit, and it looks pretty bad. that might take more than the expected 10 days to heal, at this rate. he had more visitors today, ans they brought him many nice gifts. that's all for today.
[5/26/99] he's looking better today, as every day. i think tis will be the last update for a while, until he gets the teeth back or something new comes up.
[6/11/99] steven got the mold (wax) for his flipper, and it looks really nice. he's completely healed, scar wise, and he's been back in school (even though school's out now) he gets the new teeth next friday, and i'll update soon. i will have pictures up soon so you can see what he looked like with the old teeth, none, and the new teeth. later, yo's.
