Fantasies of The Heart
Walls Within
These walls I built,
To protect me,
From all that is now,
And all that will be.

Safe behind these walls,
I do not have to deal,
With the many parts of life,
That cause me to feel.

I guard my heart well,
Behind these inpregnable walls,
Here it is safe from pain,
When love or life calls.

I am alone within these walls,
It was my choice to make,
For when the walls are down,
My heart is at risk to break.

Maybe someday, I will be strong,
And let down these self-imposed walls,
To feel again and take a chance,
When love or life calls.
