Growing up, we all had someone either fictional or really in our lives that we looked up to. I loved my father, and for the rest of my life, I'll honour his ways and morals. When I was a child, though, the television played a big role in my bringing up. May it be through cartoons, or video games, etc., these fictional characters were always associated wit me in accordance to my friends. We all had our favourite right? This page will show the connections and similarities between my idols and my..self. Some of these are pretty recent, heh..
LoveAs the Mortal Kombat series was growing stardom amongst the old and the young, I realized that I had to pic a favourite 'ninja', so they were called. But none of them really appealed to me. Reptile, Sub, Scorpion, they all were icons in everyone's mind. I didn't want to be associated wit the popular characters. And besides, they all had their flaws. BUT, when Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 came out, I had found my destiny. Ermac, a dark-skinned, telekinetic-slamming menace to the MK world. He was it. I always said to myself that if I could have one super-human power, it'd be telekinesis. And Ermac's whole history is shrouded in mystery, jsut like my own, being adopted and all. All the connections were there, and my perseverance prevailed as I became associated with fear.
LoveAs some of you may know(the ones who's asses I kicked), I am a huuuuuge Killer Instinct fan. I love a lot of Rare's games ever since I was introduced to Donkey Kong Country. When DKC came out wit a promotional VHS for it's game, my good friend Adam Steeves and I stumbled across a hidden teaser at the end. It was a bunch of Nintendo staff playing Killer Instinct! This was my first hearing of it, and naturally being a natural at fighting games, I fell in love. I mastered Thunder in Killer Instinct, and when KI 2/Gold came out, my number one man was Combo. Many a nights have been enjoyed because of this game. Since I've mastered this game, the two characters have become a part of me. Some things you'll never forget, and how to kick someone's ass with these two is one of those things. Whether it was at the KI tourney in Strathroy, or in the comfort of home, KI kept us busy.
LoveI remember when Pokémon was but a mere idea. I had read a thing or two about it in an issue of Nintendo Power. I was like, "mleh, s'jsut gonna be some kid thing", boy was I wrong. I soon became overwhelmed in Pokémania, and acquired my favourites; The type "Ground" and this Cubone and a Sandshrew as my favourite pokémon. I first saw Cubone in the opening credits to Pokémon the animated series. Then I saw the episode "The School of Hard Knocks". That was it, I knew Cubone was the one. He is also the "lonely pokémon", and aside from my group of 4, I'm pretty lonely, too. I've got cubone, and he's got me. Also, Cubone and Sandshrew are naturally resistant to shocks from PIKACHU! With Cubone and Sandshrew as my favourite pokémon, there is no qwestion why Marowak and Sandslash are a part of my elite.
LoveI was the world's biggest Ninja Turtles fan. I had all the action figures for the first 3 years. Sure, sure, there are many that say they are, but not everyone even knows something simple like all of their names. My friend Josh Collins was all about Leonardo, Matt Fahie was Michelangelo, TJ Deplessier was Donatello and I,.. I was Raphael. We'd roleplay constantly. And then it came, the first TMNT movie!!! My mom surprised TJ and me and took us to see it wit TJ's family and my sister. It was the first movie I had ever seen in theatres, and it was SO EXCITING. Raph had a really big part in it. He was always my favourite. Maybe because everything he did attitude-wise was whut I hold in. Maybe because he had the coolest weapon, or maybe because he got into the trenchcoat/hat and eyepatch later in TMNT history. There will always be a part of him in me.
