Jim Photo ![]() Here you see Corporal Key with his
charge. The SNB-5 #584. One day while running both engines
at full power, with another SNB in front of me, 584 became airborne,
jumped the chocks and chewed the butt out of the other SNB.
Required a whole new tail section for that one. 584 Needed two
new engines and props plus new metal for her under nose. At that
time the damage was about $70,000! A drop in the Military Bucket
even then. Quite an
experience. I didn't get court martialled because it was declared
an "Incident" and not an accident. Of course this did preclude me
from rising to the glorious rank of Buck Sergeant! I had about a
year to go still collecting my $120 per month and $60 flight pay!
