Coit Tower -- San Francisco Located at the top of Telegraph Hill stands Coit Tower, built in 1933. The views of the surrounding city from the top of the 210 foot tower are spectacular. The lobby of the tower contains wonderful murals painted during the depression through a government program to keep artists employed. Twenty-five artists painted the murals depicting life in modern California (circa 1934). The paintings alone are worth the walk up the hill to the tower. I climbed the Greenwich Steps to get to the tower, and shot this picture just below the top of Telegraph Hill. |
