Rotonda.JPG (21095 bytes) Fontana in Piazza della Rotonda

This fountain welcomes visitors to the Piazza della Rotonda -- home of the Pantheon.  The Pantheon, or temple of all the gods, is an awe inspiring domed temple designed by the Emperor Hadrian (AD 118 - 125).

The dome of the Pantheon, a marvel of Roman engineering, is equal in height and in width, at 140 feet.  Only from inside can the true scale and beauty be appreciated -- so bring some aspirin.  It, like many other places in Rome, is hard on the neck.
