Stealing Beauty
Armor
Her glittery wings
Catch the light.
In such a way
It makes the night
Seem less chilled.
The silky satin of her dress
Seemingly relieves the stress
Of one unimportant life.
Strands of hair
Soft with a moonlit shine
Cast an envy
Over those who say
I wish it mine.
I wear an armor of steel,
Day in
Day out
Strong, sturdy, heavy, unbreakable
Burdening, hiding, protecting.
A layer separating myself from
The world I watch,
The world in which this armor
Carries through the motions of a normal life.
Inside,
A whirling of colors,
Words,
Thoughts,
Dreams.
To others, I am a robot.
"Unique, just like everyone else,"
To myself, I am darkness.
With the windows of my soul
To peer through the slits of my face mask.
Is it enough?
So that every now and then
I met someone in their own armor,
Who sees
What lurks in this cold cave?
That is not enough.
There is only room for one
In this infinite empty void.
And the steel keeps us all caged.
Frozen where we lay.
So I
Must stay
Eternally
Alone
