He was discovered by Chyi Yu, a singer when he was working for Rock Records. Due to Chyi Yu's recommendation, he began to sing commercial songs. The first song he sang was 最后原舞曲 . However, as he was not much known at that time, people did not take much notice of him. In 1985, he recorded his first solo album, 心的方向 (Heart Direction) and became an established singer ever since. He composed songs, for his own use as well for other singers. The song which made him well-known was 花心 (Flower Heart) which was well known in many countries. His biggest break was in 1995, with an album, "爱相随" (Love Follows) which made him popular not only in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia as well as in Hong Kong. He held concerts and his concerts were sold out! In fact, his concert for 2 nights were sold out in just 3 days! A third show was thus added. Also, his 爱相随 (Love Follows) album was also the highest number of records sold in Singapore.
However, 1996 was a quiet year for him. His album, 爱的光 (Light of Love) did not do well. Emil Chau spent the whole year staying more at home, being a good Daddy and a good husband to his wife, Constance.
As 1997 comes, his latest album, "朋友" (Friends) and is very popular among everyone. He is now having a Super World Tour , giving concerts in the countries he visits. Let's hope he delivers the great fantastic concert he always gives!!!
What I Like About Him:
He has a unique way of singing, and his concerts are always that interesting. His songs are not the type which you would listen many times and feel bored of it.
His songs are always nice to listen, over and over again. That's why he is popular. Another element I like about him is that he is very talented in song-writing, and writes beautiful songs. One of my favourites is 明天我要嫁给你
