Butterflies

by Georges Rosenmann
August, 1996

And how are your butterflies my dear
Now that we have met so near?
Are they still fluttering around?
Or, have they left for some new ground?
Or, is it perhaps you've found some new?
After all, we shared so moments few.

I hope to have chased them away,
Never to return, not even another day;
And to have replaced them with much better:
The love and joy of each for the other.

And if departed they are not,
Then I will catch the whole darn lot,
Settle them down until they've shared
The happinesses we've just fared.

-------

At least it is a new start
For this romantic ol' fart,
To share his devotions,
And verses of notions.
