Day 3- Crystal Coast, North Carolina

We spent most of the day traveling the outer banks (click for picture of map) of North Carolina. most of it was spent going from island to island by jeep or ferry. We had two ferry rides, one about 45 minutes and one over 2 hours long. All I can say is, hopefully never again!

Our first stop on the outer banks was to see the famous Cape Hatteras lighthouse. This lighthouse was in danger of falling a few years back and a whole rescue mission was made to move it to a safer location.

In order to continue across the outer banks, we had to take two ferries. One was about 45 minutes, while the other was over 2 hours long.

The Ocracoke Lighthouse. All along the outer banks are lighthouses, this is the second one we stopped at and were unable to go into.

My shell that I found on the beach. I will never live down the comment: "Oh my god, someone lost their ring!!!"

Group photo inside the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Due to wind, we were not able to climb to the top. Is it just me, or does this picture of me remind you of Vanna White?

As you probably could tell, we had to stop here for our lunch. I mean, where else can you find a restaurant named after you?

Ocracoke Lighthouse from ferry #2.

Our little visitor while we were shell hunting. He was pretty fun to chase around.
