DORITOS, FISHING LURES, AND RYAN KELSKO

When they had a grand opening celebration for a big new Wal-Mart in town, the management brought in a member of the Atlanta Braves baseball team--outfielder, Ryan Klesko. The day he was to appear and sign autographs, we got up early so we could get to the store in plenty of time. When we got there, we wandered around for a little while (since we were there two hours early!). As we approached the sporting goods section, the statement was made as to "I bet he's here now and is walking around the store shopping." As we argued among ourselves of the validity of that statement, we turned a corner on to the fishing lure aisle, we found an instant resolution to our argument, because there in front of us stood Ryan Klesko himself, shopping for a tackle box, with a cart full of Doritos and spagetti. We didn't want to appear too obvious or scare him, so as the three of us hid behind a display wearing our Atlanta Braves hats (No, not obvious at all!!), we discussed how we could approach him while still appearing cool. Well, by the time we came up with an acceptable plan of attack, (just walk up and say "Hi") and we went back to the aisle he was on, his...dum, dum, dum...GIRLFRIEND had found him, too. Her presence blew our whole plan out of the water, and we made a speedy retreat to deal with our defeat.

When the time came, we got in line with the others to meet Ryan. We got his autograph and took a whole roll of pictures of him. Then having completed our goal of the day, we left the store with autographed pictures in hand, and another brush with stardom to add to our memories.

Take me back to where I came from!!
