The Child and the Butterfly

Lite on a branch
Near a small farm
A tiny little butterfly
Trapped in a spiders yarn
The delicate wings
Failing about
Its muffled voice
A minute shout
A child wonders by
And gently starts
To peel away the tendrils
Of an intricate web
Then taking the little creature
And softly stroking the wing
Begins in childish nature
To comfortingly sing
The child sets the butterfly down
With a glance, cautioning
him to be more careful
Then he skips away
