November 7, 2000, A Presidential Election and a Quarter-Century Mark

Here I am ready for whatever the evening holds.

Here's the whole Group!

November 7, 2000, Indecision 2000. It was definatly memorable to spend my 25th birthday standing along Congress Avenue. Great concert, wish that there had been a conclusion to the evening event. Eric Stratton, Michael Rigg, Ronny Able and Erin _____ all celebrated the evening with me. We arrived about 6:15 went through security and found a place with a good view of the jumbotron and the Capitol Building. As the evening wore on we did not tire. The rain didn't even stop us. It wasn't until we saw the color guard leave that we knew we wouldn't see Dubya in person. Then we left, it was 3:30 in the morning. Eric and I hadn't eaten. We chose Kerby Lane for sustinance. There we saw some Bush/Cheney Staffers. I didn't arrive to work till 10:30 the next morning--I needed sleep.

I don't think that it is a coincidence that I asked for a Bush Administration for my 25th Birthday and it hangs on Florida's 25 Electoral Votes. --December 8, 2000

December 14, 2000. Last night Gore used the word concession. It's almost over. History Books are being rewritten throughout the world to show George W. Bush as the 43rd President of the United States. The Electoral College is casting ballots. To me it will not be OFFICIAL until Inauguation Day, January 20, 2001. President-Elect Bush is choosing to graciously accept the presidency. There won't be any big official celebration here in Austin. I still feel privilaged to be a part of this historic event. My quarter-century birthday and a presidential election all at the same time. An election that hung on for 35 days. I think that I will have a wonderful story to share with my grand-children someday. Riggs told me to stay involved in Politics, I just have to find my niche.

January 19, 2001. Tomorrow is the big Inauguation Day. I sit here at work wearing my "W. 2000" lapel pin in honor of the occasion. I have several friends in the Longhorn Band that will be performing in the parade. LHB is at the beginning...and the aggies are buried somewhere in the middle of the end.

This has been a process that has tested our resilliancy as a country. There are many that will protest this Inauguation. I feel sorry for them that they can not accept the will of others who cast their votes properly and in due time.

Here in Austin, the 77th Legislature has begun. I have pursued many avenues in my attempt to be a part of history in our state. I am still searching for an administrative position to be able to serve my state.
