These are some stories about my favorite television show of all time--Roundhouse. If anyone has any stories, or thoughts about the show, cast, crew, band, or just about the bleachers in the studio, please feel free to e-mail me with them. I'd love to hear any of them.

Here's some of my own stories straight from...

DOWN AT THE

One of our most memorable adventures came about when we became acquainted with a young adult, variety television program, called "Roundhouse", that was being filmed at the nearby Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando. We came to be permanent fixtures in the studio during the last month the show was in production in Florida, and became friends with many members of the cast and crew. This was an incredible experience for us, because not many opportunities of that sort come around everyday. The castmembers were all extremely talented--some having been in movies, recorded their own albums, or worked with the likes of Janet and Michael Jackson, and Paula Abdul. Their talents actually inflated our egos more than their own, to a certain extent. We always got impressed responses when we could make statements like "Oh, our friend Mark was in that Janet Jackson video." or "Yeah, our friend Dom has choreographed for Paula Abdul and for Michael Jackson. In fact, he worked on the entire 'Bad' tour."

We became famous in the studio for our enthusiasm, especially for our "Wooing", and took on the nickname of Woo3--with the explanation of "there are three of us and we Woo". We were also given the nickname of P.A.M. by the Audience Services guy, Bob. P.A.M. stood for Professional Audience Members, and at the final taping of the show, Bob made us stand up and take a bow, and he introduced us to the rest of the audience. The cast even came out and applauded for us. We were embarrassed beyond belief, but still talk about it until this day.

The first season of the show was a "test season" of sorts. The producers weren't sure if the concept of the show would catch on with the viewers. Well, they were wrong and the show lived on, only this time, in Los Angeles. The entire cast was from California, and the producers decided it would be more logical to film there instead of returning to Florida. We corresponded with many of the castmembers for almost two years. The show was eventually cancelled, and the cast moved on to other things.

Some of our more memorable moments during this time include:

--Calling information to try to get castmembers phone numbers, never expecting to get them (this was before we met any of them). We ended up with two--David Sidoni, and Alfred Carr, and somehow I was elected to make the phone calls. We got their answering machines, and after about ten instances of "Oh my god!! That's his voice!! It really is!!", I left the most thought provoking message I could at the time--"Hey! This is Michelle. Give me a call when you get home. Bye!" No phone number though, we were afraid one of them might actually call back!!

--Once we did talk to David on the telephone. Lenora called me one night and as our conversation began to lag, she asked, "Hey! You want to try calling Sid again to see if he's home? I can put it on three-way, and we can both talk to him." She didn't wait for me to respond, instead proceeded to put me on hold, dial the number, then clicked me back on. Our hearts pounded so loud you could hear them, as the phone rang, then someone picked up the phone, and our hearts stopped for what seemed like an eternity, only to hear--"Hudson Lumber Yard blah, blah, blah"--Lenora had dialed the wrong number. After our hearts started beating again, Lenora decided to try calling again. She put me back on hold, dialed, then clicked me back on, to hear the telephone ringing again. After a few rings, someone answered with a rushed "Yeah!?" Surprised, Lenora said "David?!" "Yeah." was the response. "Uh, hi. It's Lenora and Michelle." "Oh, hey! How's it going?" "Good. What's going on?" "Not much. Mark and I are playing Nintendo, and Mark's winning." (That would be Mark David). He asked us what we were doing, to which we answered "Nothing. Just bored and decided to see if you were home." He then told us to hold on, because he had to tell his roommate something--"Hey Dom! Don't forget we have that photo shoot tomorrow at 1:00 at the studio. Hey! I'm talking to Lenora and Michelle from the show." With that having been said, he came back on the phone and said "Hey, I'm back. Dom says 'Hi'." Well the conversation proceeded on from there, and he told us he'd see us and the show on Saturday. Very cool Roundhouse moment.

--Another time, right after they had gone back to Los Angeles, I got a phone call from Seymour Green. He told me his girlfriend was cleaning out some of his bags, and had found my address and phone number and wanted to know who I was. He then asked me if I wanted to talk to her. I didn't know what to say to that, and the first thing that came out was "Uh...no. Not really." That was quite ackward to say the least!! He and I talked for a little while longer, then we both had to go

--So many things involving us actually getting in to see the show. Once we got there too late to get tickets, and were devestated. My plan was to break down the studio door and sneak past security, but we settled on Lenora talking to our favorite studio assistant, Brett, with my plan as back-up. Brett told us not to be silly, that we didn't need tickets because we were friends with the cast, and they would be disappointed if we weren't there. Not to mention that they would come out into the park looking for us if we weren't there! We stood a little taller and held our heads a little higher that day. :-)

--Part of Brett's job was to mingle with the audience members outside the studio, tell them a little about the show and the cast, give them an idea of what to expect during the taping, and to answer any questions that they may have. Eventually he passed that job on to us, because he said we knew as much about it as he did, and we expalined everything with so much more enthusiasm than he could. He always told everybody that if they wanted to meet any of the cast that they should sit near us, because they all hung out with us between scenes. We always laughed when girls would come up to us and be really nice, then ask "Can you introduce me to David?" or "Can you get me Mark's autograph?" Ahh, those were the days.

Our Roundhouse experience was one we will remember for the rest of our lives. It was our first real brush with "Hollywood" and all that is involved with it. Who knows, maybe we'll run across Dave, Natalie, John, or Mark again one day. I wonder if they'll remember us? Well, maybe if we "Woo" they will.

Dom...

Dominic Lucero is without a doubt my favorite Roundhouse castmember. During the first season in Orlando, my friends and I went to the last four tapings--Bullies, School Play, Beauty Pageant, and Time. We sat in the same seats for both sets of tapings of each show. (I don't know how they did it in LA, but here they had two tapings of every show on Saturdays, then they edited them together for the final show). Anyway the three of us became fast friends with Dominic, David, and Mark, and we became known among the cast and crew as P.A.M--Professional Audience Members, and Woo3--there were three of us, and we woo'd. They always looked for us in our usual seats, and Dominic even had the Nickelodeon coordinator on the lookout for us every Saturday morning to make sure we made it all right. (It was an hour drive for us, but well worth it). We have tons of pictures of everyone, along with autographs and a notebook full of letters from everyone after they went back to LA. Dominic always came over to talk during the breaks, and after the show, too. At the last show (Bullies), his mom was there, and he introduced her to us. She was very nice, and was very proud of her son. My friend was going to take a picture of Dominic and I together, but she could not get the camera to work, Dom even played with it, but nothing helped. We ended up getting a picture of just Dom by himself, and he promised he would send me a picture when he got back home. When I told him I wanted one of his headshots that they had hanging up in the make-up room, he laughed, but promised he would send one. It was heartbreaking when they left, but we kept in touch with David, Natalie, Micki, Alfred, and John, and even got a phone call from Seymour. We sent postcards to everyone in the cast at the start of the second, third, and fourth seasons, and even got responses from Rebel, and Nickelodeon. It was well into the second season of no Dominic that we became concerned, but one day I got an envelope in the mail and in it was the picture I had asked for. I know now that Dominic had been sick, and that was why he hadn't been on the show, but even with everything going on in his life, and with his illness, he remembered the promise he made to me, and sent the picture. I'll never forget that as long as I live, and I'll never forget Dominic. He was a very special person, and will always have a place in my heart. Even now, after all this time, that picture is still hanging on my wall, exactly where it always has. I just can't bring myself to take it down.

This "story" was written by my fellow P.A.M./Woo3 member, Lenora.

I will always remember Roundhouse through the song "Times". It was from the second to the last show they taped in Florida. I remember clearly Dominic and Sid coming over to us and telling us "that the girls kept crying during this song in rehearsal." I have to tell you, I cried too.

We knew that the cast would be soon be heading home to California, and it was very hard. The cast of Roundhouse weren't just actors on a great television show, they were our friends.

Our first encounter-- We went to a card shop a few days before we attended our first taping and bought a 2 x 3 foot card with 2 clowns on it, that simply said "Smile". We addressed it to Dominic, David, and Mark, and proceeded to take it to them the following Saturday. We were the first in line, and stood outside for an hour or so. We always arrived hours before the show was to be taped. We met Brett, a green eyed Universal employee, who became a friend. The doors opened, and we calmly walked in and took "our seats" on stage right. The cast normally just walked around as the audience filtered in. We cheered, sang, laughed, and woo'd throughout the show, and got autographs and pictures. We gave Dominic and Dave the card, and abruptly ran out the back door. 'Chel looked back as they opened it. We ate lunch at the rock-n-roll cafe, then it was time to go back for the second taping. We were a little embarrassed as to what the guys would say to us, but we went back to our seats anyway. David came right over to us and thanked us for the card, as if he had been waiting for us. Mark also came over to thank us. Throughout the show, Dom and Sid would come over to our seats and talk to us. They made us feel so special, and they were two of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. From there our friendship grew.

If I had to choose among castmembers, I would have to say that David Sidoni, was/is my favorite. From the first minute we met him, he was always kind and considerate.

After the cast left Florida and went back to California, we thought we would never hear from any of them again. Needless to say, we were wrong. We attended the final four tapings of the show, and became friends with most of the cast, and kept in touch with most of them. We got letters from Sid, Micki, Natalie, John, Al, Julene, Mark, Ivan, Jennifer, David N., Bryan, and a phone call from Seymour.

Sid was special, though. I wrote to him almost weekly, and we talked about everything from basketball to underwear. (We had a running joke regarding boxers or briefs) Sid had no secrets from us, he answered openly and honestly, and always asked our opinions on things, especially about his hair. We would often tease him about him about his hair. He was "FULLY" hairy. More now, than before "Newsies", when he shaved his chest to look like a young orphan newsboy. We joked about a lot of things. In December 1992, I received a package that contained a letter along with 3 Roundhouse hats. That was the last letter we got from Sid. I moved, then the show got cancelled.

I often think about him and how he is doing. Sid, if you are by chance reading this..."Congrats!! Best wishes!! And Booger check!!" from P.A.M./Woo3. We love you man!!!

I also want to thank Mike for the Roundhouse logo at the top of the page.
