![]() | Service Bulletins, Technical Notes | This page is to guide you in the direction of some interesting paperwork. Besides the usual game specific instruction manuals with schematics, Gottlieb issued a series of Service Bulletins to operators as new games were released and faults were uncovered. Gottlieb also published a technical newsletter called "ON TARGET" covering both pinball and video games, between November 1980 and March 1984. Joel "Pinball Lizard" Cook and Vickie Huisenga took a lot of material from these Gottlieb service bulletins and "On Target" newsletters, added in their own experiences and produced the 1994 "Black Hole/Haunted House Club of America". It contains a lot of information but it looks like it was put together with an ancient typewriter and Xerox machine, with no logical order to the contents. In it's day a useful guide, but nowaydays outclassed by Clay Harrell's Pinball Repair Guides, which are clearly written and superbly illustrated, covering most pinball machine makes and series, including System 80. |

Game Specific Manuals - Scans of some specific game manuals can be found on a few web archives that Gottlieb Development LLC couldn't shut down because they're located outside of the USA. In any case we recommend finding an original on Ebay or buying an original or quality copy from The Pinball Resource, the only company licensed to reproduce Gottlieb manuals. ![]() The ON TARGET newsletter archive is hosted at ionpool.net by Tom McCLintock. |
