They are the people time forgot. After taking away what was theirs, the
world gave them back just a scrap of dust to live on, and tried to strip them of their
dignity. The world poured bad spirits into the lips of their children, and their
children to come. Starting a chain of destruction that runs through their
generations. Killing off what is left of their seed.
Lost in the world of darkness, their cries fall on the deafness of the sentence society has inflicted upon them. And the tears of their children flow like a river with no direction. The world still turns their backs, when they should hang their heads in shame. We are one of the richest countries in the world, and yet we have children, and people starving, abused and neglected. We think if we keep these people all in one place and stick up a sign that says "Indian Reservation" on it that somebody is taking care of them.
What makes Americans think they were and are any better than Hitler killing off millions of Jews; when we have a culture of people who have ancestry that dates back further than most of our ancestors. People who we killed, destroyed and stole from. Instead we sweep the cries under the rug, carrying our forefathers prejudiced hearts living out their ignorance. Meanwhile we fill our bellies full of the food that we stole out of the mouths of babes, and destroy the land that was promised them. Still our consiences remain intact just as hard as our hearts.
You do not have to be a Christian to have a heart of love toward the Native American Indians, and you don't have to be one to help them. Jesus did not tell people he would not help them until they believed. He helped them because he loved them. God will break down the walls of indifference if we just love each other first. I think the time has come where God wants people to laydown their selfish "poor me" attitudes and start helping one another. We live in a very selfish society even in the Christian sense. Sometimes we act too religious for our own good. We see somebody in need and we smile and say a little prayer for them and send them on their merry way. We are more than happy to give them a religious tract or a few dollars to ease our consience. But when it comes to rolling up our sleeves and wiping the tears off the childrens faces, or giving when we hardly have enough for ourselves, or giving some of our time, we crawl back into our empty spaces where we hide from the world. Jesus was not a wealthy man, all he had is what he carried with him, but his riches that he gave to the world were abundant, and they made a difference. We all have something to give, we all can make a difference.
