What It's Worth

       by Worth Bugg

Do you know what? Tuckahoe's school sports are worth going out to   watch. In almost every sport, TMS has had a winning record.
Boys' and girls' soccer consist of some outstanding players. The two of them together lost a total of one game, losing to Tuckahoe's
rival, Byrd. The Boys' and Girls' Tennis teams shares similar success. The other sports have had winning records and only a few have
had a losing record, but I think all of the teams this year will be better than ever. One major reason I think that Tuckahoe sports are the
best is because of the huge selection of students. Tuckahoe has 1246 students in the school. The more students who get involved in
sports, the better our sports teams will be! Until then, stayed tuned to the upcoming exciting year in Tuckahoe sports.

Where's the Pep?

       by Laurel Maughan

Have you ever been to a pep rally? Excitement, cheering, clapping, shouting, everyone having an awesome time?
Unfortunately, it's not that way at Tuckahoe. Even though the SCA does a great job organizing, and the
cheerleaders spend weeks perfecting their cheers, the pep rallies are never that great. If the purpose of a pep rally is
to get everyone excited about school spirit, why does everyone just sit there? Because the prep rallies, despite all of
the planning that goes into them, are kind of boring.

So what can we do? How can they get us more excited? The problem now is that nobody wants to yell and cheer,
no one is excited. Since nobody is Òpeppy' enough to get excited, the pep rallies have always been boring and
       kind of subdued.

What if there were allowed to sit wherever we want, with our friends? What if we had more things that required
audience participation? In past pep rallies, they've had always had a contest of some sort, always limited to only a
dozen people or so. What if there were better contests and prizes for winning, and the contests involved more
people? If there was more to do than just watch the SCA try and make us Òpepdified'?

The planning in the pep rallies is excellent. The SCA always does a great job in organizing, and the cheerleaders are
great. However, the fact remains that most people don't have a very good time at the pep rallies. I hope that the pep
rallies this year really improve, because of this article or not, I don't care, but as long as everyone has a good time,
       it's all good.
