I haven't regretted it for one minute to this day.
This picture is the picture of our first frost. It was taken in October of 2000, as you can see from the pumpkins on the porch. I wonder if when I am 80 I will remember what it was like to have to jump start my car every morning for two months until we could find time to replace the battery. The two of us bundled up to leave for work, our visible breath as we spoke about the day ahead of us. Admiring the way the frost clung to each leaf of the rhododendron bush, seeming to turn it into a snowflake tree...Chris wrapping his arms and coat around me, holding me close to his warm chest to keep me comfortable until we could climb into a defrosted car and drive away. I want to remember the little things, when life conspires to make us forget.
