Venice Capital, Connecticut.
C# Winforms, WPF, MySQL, Umbrello UML design. Venice is a hedge fund that
is implementing a new automated trading system for which I created a
high-performance winform monitoring application. I architected
the first version of this in an object oriented design. I was
also commissioned to design and code a 2.0 version with a strong messaging
architecture reflective of the design of the actual trading system.
I carried version 1.0 through testing and into production. Both
versions were coded in VS C#, although I also began some intitial work
on a Mono proof of concept. Additional duties included MySQL scripts for daily auditing of the trading system. |

My tasks include maintenance and development of the distributed database system and supporting systems. As well as improving and developing existing applications for synchronization of the databases, ETL of data and web service based APIs for client companies, I have also developed an OO framework intended to replace and overhaul the existing 'ad hoc' integrated systems approach. The framework I have developed is an abstract factory based pattern, utilizing .NET remoting to target particular servers for reading and writing objects and collections of objects. |

write much these days I maintain a voracious appetite for news and current
affairs. At Sheffield I was instrumental in the setting up and running
of a Corporate Fund-Raising Group. Amongst the sports I enjoy are horse
riding, running and hiking. I love the outdoors and enjoy long distance
running. I completed the 19th Marathon des Sables, a 240km self-sufficient
foot race across the Sahara desert for charity, as well as various other
