I am in the process of trying to prove that Daniel Kessler is the son of Michael Kessler (ca 1758-1825) of Lower Mahantango township, Schuylkill Co., PA. Here is the evidence that I have amassed so far:
1800 Berks Co., PA
Three males and two females under 10 (George, John, Michael)
One female 16-25
One male and female 26-44 (Daniel was not born yet by 1800)
1810 Lower Mahantongo Tp., Berks Co., PA
Michael Kessler- two males under 10 (Daniel would have been about five- the other would be Abraham) ; one female 10-15; three males and one female 16-25; one male and female 45+.
1820 Lower Mahantango, Schuylkill Co, PA

Michael Kessler Jr. 100100-00100-0-1
Michael Kessler Sr- 1820:
one male and female 45+; one male 10-16 (Daniel), one male 16-18 (Abraham), one male 16-26; two persons engaged in agriculture
According to familysearch.org Michael Kessler and Magdalena Polly Grim had the following children (with approx. birthdates): John 1790, Michael 1794, Abraham 1805, Greth 1807, George 1809, Eva 1811, Barbara 1813, Daniel 1815. The dob for this Daniel is off by ten years but I still believe it to be him. The above census records make it fairly clear that Michael Kesler and his wife were not having children as late as 1815.
In 1830, there are several Kessler families in Schuylkill Co:
Abraham, Daniel, & John all on same census page in Lower Mohantongo Tp; George in Barry Tp., and George in Wayne Tp.
1830 Lower Mohantongo, Schuylkill Co, PA
Daniel Kessley: one male and female 20-30; male 10-15
John Kessley: one male and female 30-40; two males

Abraham Kessler: one male & female 20-30; two males
under 5.

"Gabriel Kessler was born in Schuylkill county, PA, on the 30th of Sep., 1838, his parents being Daniel and Susanna (Clouser) Kessler. The family is of German lineage on both paternal and maternal sides. The father of our subject was born in Schuylkill county, but his parents were both natives of Germany, having located in the Keystone state in early life. There Daniel Kessler was reared to manhood and began farming on his own account, acquiring a property of one hundred and sixty acres. In 1849, however, he disposed of his interests there and came to Crawford County, Ohio, purchasing sixty acres of land in Liberty township, where he made his home up to the time of his death. Soon after his arrival he also bought a tract of land of eighty acres in Chatfield township, and his farming interests returned to him a good financial reward for his labors. He was a member of the German Reformed Church and was a Democrat in his political views. His wife was also born in Schuylkill county, PA, and they became the parents of ten children, of whom six are yet living, namely: Paul, who made his home in DeKalb county, IN; Daniel, of Mercer county, Ohio; Mathilda, who resides in Liberty township, Crawford Co., Lucy, the wife of Peter Trumater, of Sandusky Township, this county; and Catherine, who married Samuel Kurtz and is also living in Liberty township...." pp322-24, From A Centennial Biographical History of Crawford County, Ohio.
