Whetstone Twp., Crawford Co, OH in 1826.

    on Jan 28, 1840.  Elizabeth is d/o Katherine and John Whitmore.  Wm
    was 43 in the 1860 census and living with his family in Whetstone Twp, 
    Crawford Co, OH.  Elizabeth was age 43 also.  He is listed as a farmer;
    his reas estate is valued at 2900, and his personal estate at 70. Wm
    could not read or write.  Both he and his wife were b. PA.  The following 
    children were listed as living with him:  Catherine, Peggy, Eliz., Pamilla,   
    Mary, John, William, and Eliza.  William was from Franklin Co PA, and
    Elizabeth was from Northumberland Co PA.

        In the 1870 census, they are 29 and keep house and farm, respectively.  
        They lived at home in Whetstone Twp, Crawford Co, OH with Roosa and Wil-
        liam.  Jacob was killed by a train on Feb 26 with 
        Joel Shumaker.  Jacob B. lived from (3/22/1841-2/26/1887) 
        and was s/o Daniel and Eva Christina (Gelbaugh) Smith.  Catherine, 
        age 19 in the 1860 census, is listed as a sewer by occupation,  and 
        she also attended school during 1860, and living with her parents.  She
         is ALSO listed as living with the Joel Shoemaker household as a 
         domestic housekeeper in the 1860 census.
