The Storm
(c) 2001, Phillip Smith

Rain pours out my window
The drops distort the picture
My face mirrors the storm
As tears fall from my cheeks

Lightning flashes brightly
Blinding me for a moment
And in the haze of my eyes
I see you float before me

The storm of my heart
The storm in my soul
Rain pours all around
And drowns me in tears

The thunder rumbles my walls
Of both my house and my soul
And I feel my knees start to go
As my collapse mimics another crash

Blackout comes and power goes
Leaving me in total darkness
I cannot see, but I don't care
I've been feeling dark lately

The storm of my heart
The storm in my soul
Rain pours all around
And drowns me in tears

She floats before me
And I reach out
But then the lightning
Destroys the vision
I hear her voice
Calling to me
But the thunder rolls
And drowns her out

The storm of my heart
The storm in my soul
Rain pours all around
And drowns me in tears

The rain soaks me through
And the thunder deafens me
I stand on the roof
Daring the lightning to come

She floats before me
And I reach out
But then the lightning
Destroys the vision
I hear her voice
Calling to me
But the thunder rolls
And drowns her out

The storm of my heart
The storm in my soul
Rain pours all around
And drowns me in tears
