I thought I'd put something on here for my neighbor and friend who died of cancer on June 17th 1999. I wasn't sure what to put, but then I came across a poem I wrote about her. So, here it is.
So, we'll never forget her.....
Mary,
You left too soon, I wish you stayed.
You're at peace now, so many have said.
You were a good friend, a mother you could say.
I know you'll watch over me and all the rest.
You'll live on in our hearts always...
When I hear a sparrow sing it's song.
When I walk a road that seems too long.
When I feel the wind blow through my hair.
When I smell a flower I know you're there.
A cure for your illness, each day I prayed.
To laugh, to talk, to hug, to cheer.
No longer is able and that I fear.
You're lying asleep in a nice new bed.
I'll always be missing you, as you already know.
I just wish so hard that you didn't have to go.
Why'd it have to end this way?
You of all people, it makes sense of none.
Your life may have ended, but a new one's just begun.
To see you I must go to heaven, so I'll try my best.
To hear your laughter is what I want.
But to hear your pain forever will haunt.
