THANK U ALANIS...

Alanis continues to push musical barriers with her own style of self expression. She has opened the door for all wannabe angst female musicians. Is there nothing this woman can't do? Alanis continues to inspire the famous and the non famous with her work! I look forward to seeing her when she tours the U.K.!

As I sit with my headphones on listening to Thank You I have to give all the thanks I can to all the things that are still good in my life. I have come to a point where I am changing the way I think about life and what is important to me, and just wanted o give you thanks for all you have ever done for me...Alanis has allways made me think of all the ironys in life.

i love the whole of the Jagged Little Pill album...without exception...not too keen on the last 2 singles tho'...but the girl sure has got some talent and what a voice...wow!!!!

i've been listen to sfij over and over this past week...and these are the conclusions i've come to...

she relies way too heavily on repetition.... the songs that aren't repetitive are completely random in the lyrics and they don't follow the music all that well (with the exception of "i was hoping"). the only song that doesn't follow one of these two formulas is "one".

i know people are going to hate me for saying that...let's just get this part over with now...i love the album...i love the words...i love alanis...i've been a fan for 3 and a half years now. i just don't think the album is as strong as jlp...however, i think that this is an incredible "sophomore" album...and i think that just because a lot of the songs seem to follow the same formula, this album is a good indication that her next will probably be a combination of jlp and sfij and it's going to be a kickass album.

she has shown definite improvement since jlp...she's experimenting more and that is definitely a good thing...i just hope she doesn't get stuck in this rut of writing songs the same way over and over.

I like the repetition (well "Heart of the House" pisses me right off). I love the new album and I think it's better than "Jagged Little Pill". The JLP lyrics were more in your face, and there WERE songs with repetition (e.g. "Hand In My Pocket", "You Learn", "Not the Doctor").

"here baby, let me pet your hair." hell yes. and any time anything went wrong I would run to a woman. when I was robbed. when I was sick. when I was violated. when I was broken. a bosom.

now the challenge would be to run to a man when the who-do-i-turn-to shit hits the fan."

Isn't it time for a new single in the US? Unsent has all but vanished from the airwaves where I live. Maybe it's time her label got their act together and really promoted her; they're throwing away alot of potential. Unsent should have never been "sent" as a single. I've said this from day 1. Joining You would have been alot better. However, because of this ridiculous move with swapping them (releasing Unsent when JY was getting light to moderate but good early stage airplay) screwed things up. Granted the video for Unsent really is brilliant, but it's too mellow of a track, and the melody is not infectuous, where as Joining You's is.

Thank U was a pretty hot track, and it paved the path well for a great follow-up song (JY). But since that fizzled with Unsent (possibly the #1 worst possible release from the whole album besides Your Congralulations for God sakes!!!), it will be more difficult for Joining You to succeed. As a fan, I'd rather not have that happen. I like hearing her on the way to work or school.

I don't want to sound like a total perv, but in Canada where they allow some fontal nudity after hours are videos uncensored too ?? Like the alanis's one. Does it show her without the blurs ?? I am only curious and do not want to get a million flames over this.
