NyteFlyte was a jazz band I helped form while I was stationed on the USS Constellation.
We played mostly co-written originals and some cover songs for official events and
parties for dignitaries, usually in the Hangar Bay, Flight Deck, Pierside, or
Officer's Wardrooms. We were one of 11 bands on that ship, being the
only jazz band. There were rock, country and rap bands as well. The
ship sponsored a "Battle of the Bands" contest in the hangar
bay while returning from a deployment, "NyteFlyte" won
the contest. Believe me, it was exhilarating to say the
