I've been hesitant to fill this web page with my rantings about BDSM for a number of reasons. 1) There are a lot of people out there who rant with much more eloquence than I do, and 2) What's right for me isn't necessarily right for you.
I guess however, that it doesn't hurt to tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a submissive woman in my mid-twenties, living in the Midwestern United States where I ended up while attending school. I have been interested in BDSM for a number of years, well, I guess I've always been interested in BDSM, I just didn't know it had a name before that. I first encountered this world online, in the Prodigy chat rooms I would occasionally peek into. Though I never stayed long I learned a lot. I learned that there was a name for all those funny feelings I had, and not only that, there were other people out there who felt the same way. Prodigy gave way to irc, to chat rooms I have called home for a couple of years now, and people my life wouldn't be the same without. Around that time I began surfing the web for BDSM related web pages, most of my favorites back then are still my favorites now and many of them grace my "external links" page. I also read everything and anything I could get my hands on. Again, those books I found useful are mentioned on my book list, and I highly recommend them to all of you. I made one trip to the local BDSM group before moving and met a group of wonderful, outgoing people who were so totally different from the scary visions-in-leather-carrying-whips-and-all-sorts-of-other-evil-things I had imagined that it suddenly dawned upon me that all of the people I had been talking to for this whole time were just like me - normal - welll ok *mostly* normal :) And that, so far, has been my journey. Though it has had its ups and downs it has been a pleasurable one overall, and I wish you all the same luck as you follow your own paths, happy that they have, at least once, crossed my own.
