IF YOU DON'T HAVE "WINZIP95" OR "WINZIP32" INSTALLED, DON'T UNZIP
MY THEME'S ".ZIP" FILE. Go get "WinZip" FIRST. Older programs
(like "PKZIP") don't handle "long filenames". You will be wasting
your time if you don't have "WinZip95" or "32". (See below for
where to get it.)

You have to have the "Microsoft Plus!" CD installed to use Themes.
(It comes with some computer systems, and is sold in stores.)

There is an alternative (free) program, at this address:
 DanWorld - Desktop Theme Utility
http://www.danworld.com/themes/utilities.shtml

But I have not run it, and can't really answer Questions about it.
(I already have "Plus!", and would rather not mess it up with another
"copy" of it.)

I'm noting this in case the program at "Danworld" is similar to the
"real" one. In any case, the people who have written me about the
program say it works fine. BE SURE TO READ THE TEXT FILE THAT COMES
WITH THE "DanWorld" VERSION. FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS. THEY DIFFER A
BIT FROM THE REAL "MS-Plus!" -- (i.e. You will have to "browse" for
the correct ".Theme" file yourself to "install" it...
NOTE:
It will be at "C:\Program Files\PLUS!\Themes\South Park Fun.Theme"

Here are the "MS-Plus!" instructions; the DanWorld Program is almost the
same:

Dump ALL the files you got from the "SPkTheme.zip" (using WinZip!!)
into your

"C:\Program Files\PLUS!\Themes"

directory. (There are about 45 files in the Theme.)

Go to the Control Panel. (Under START/Settings) Select "DESKTOP THEMES".

In the Top 'DropDown Menu' scroll to the Theme "South Park Fun".
Choose it. Then push the APPLY button in the lower right corner.

Regarding ALL FILES on this Site; (Especially the "Themes"):

You MUST have an Up-To-Date Unzipping Program!!

One that supports "long filenames". (Or you'll see this ~ mark in some filenames
and the Theme will not work!!! Thus the file "South Park Fun.Theme", becomes
either "South~1.The" or "SouthP.The" or the like. )

If the Theme fails to appear in the List of available Themes, this is most likely
your problem... also remember, if you use the "DanWorld" version, you have to "browse"
to the correct folder on your own to install the Theme.

I suggest you try "WINZIP95". (Available at this nice Site, but it's everywhere):

The Windows95 Tips and Tweaks FTP Site
   http://www.gate.net/~jsharit/windows_95/jls_ftp_index.html

If you can't get it there, go to WWW.YAHOO.COM and search for this
(copy EXACTLY):

   +"WinZip95" +"Nico Mak"

The search will list many sites that carry WinZip95.

"Crashes" on Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you change to a desktop theme that uses a .jpg file for the wall-paper,
you may receive the following error message:

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor."

CAUSE

A graphic filter for .jpg files has been updated by another program.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has released a new version of the Themes.exe file (version 4.40.311). Replace the Themes.exe file in the C:\Program Files\Plus! folder with this new version.

The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Software Library:

~ Themes.exe (size: 86016 bytes)

THIS WAS TAKEN FROM AOL's "WINDOWS 95 SUPPORT" PAGE. (Under WIN95/Tech/)

My observations:

I have Never found the Patch File that this Post referred to.

In any case, you are free to IGNORE THAT "Error". It has NO EFFECT.
"Re-Apply" the Theme a second time, and you most likely will get no
errors. The Theme will work, regardless.

If YOU want to dig around in Microsoft's horrible Labyrinth of Futility,
be my guest...

Personally, I'd rather have my toenails slowly pulled out.
