BDSM Booklist
.
Although not overwhelming in number, there are quite a few excellent books
on BDSM to be found. These are some I've read, or heard good things about. Each
book title is a link that will take you to Amazon.com. There you can check out
other reviews of the books listed, and if you like, purchase them directly online.
I have ordered a number of books through Amazon in the past and have had great
service every time, I highly recommend them!

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty The first novel in the beauty trilogy,
this book takes a different approach to the tale of Sleeping Beauty. In Anne
Rice's Beauty series the Prince who awakens Beauty claims her as his slave,
returning with her to his palace where she learns obedience, and is introduced
to the use of pleasure and pain in an erotic setting. Rice's talent for creating
a sensuous atmosphere is in full form in all of the beauty novels, this being
no exception. The imaginative settings and characters make this book an immensely
enjoyable read. I highly recommend all three books in this series. Also available
in audio.
-
Beauty's Punishment In this sequel to The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty,
Beauty is taken to the village where she is bought for use as a tavern slave.
This book follows Beauty and the other slaves through their ordeal in the
village, introducing a whole new set of characters, as enjoyable as the first.
Also available in audio.
-
Beauty's Release The last book in the Beauty trilogy finds Beauty whisked
away to a foreign country where she joins the ruling King's Harem. A softer,
more sensuous tone follows Beauty through her trials, eventually culminating
in her (gasp!!) release. My least favorite of all the Beauty books only because
it brings to an end my favorite erotic storyline. Also available in audio.

The Sleeping Beauty Novels - Boxed Set O.K. I didn't buy this when I
got my copies. I bought The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty thinking, 'oh,
I'll just see how they are'. BIG MISTAKE. Once you start you wont be able
to stop, why not buy them all together and get a discount, plus a nifty box?

Exit To Eden Once again Ann Rice delves into the world of Dominance and
submission to bring us another worthwhile read. For those of you who have
seen the movie, don't be scared off! The book (as is so often the case) is
completely different. Rice digs much deeper into the actual relationship between
Lisa and Elliot, you will not be disappointed.
-
The Story of O This book by Pauline Reage is actually one of my least
favorite BDSM books, but I know its a popular "first read" for a lot of people,
so I thought I'd throw it up here. O is taken to a private mansion where she
is trained in submission by complete strangers. There is a strong focus on
the physical and the humiliating.

Different Loving Goria & Will Brame, Jon Jacobs. 539 p. A wonderfully
in-depth, yet simple explanation of BDSM, D/s, and S/M. This book makes almost
all forms of BDSM available to the beginner; ranging from the basics of 'what
is D/s' to the more extreme 'edge play'. Different loving also includes a
number of interviews with men and women in the scene, bringing a wide range
of views to light. I very highly recommend this book.
-
The Loving Dominant John Warren. 384 p. This book is tailored for Dominants,
but I think is of interest to anyone in BDSM. Focusing on a Dominant's role
in D/s The Loving Dominant is full of good
advice from how to meet someone to how to negotiate a scene, to tying knots
and first aid. A very practical handbook for D/s.
-
Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns: The Romance and Sexual Sorcery of Sadomasochism
Phillip Miller, Molly Devon. O.K. I admit it. I've never read this book.
But I hear its wonderful, and its very high on my "to buy" list. So...if you've
read it, and want to throw a little note about it up here, please email me!
-
Sensuous Magic: A Guide for Adventurous Couples. Pat Califia. 304 p.
Another one I haven't read, but I've heard good things about. Try it out and
let me know!
