Mr Spontaneous
He's our 'hero' - inasmuch as a hero can be a self-serving, egotistical, mean, cruel jerk. Hey, worked for Kevin Costner, didn't it?
Rowwrrrr! Oooh, The claws are out!
Spontaneous loves to celebrate events which are obviously spontaneously occuring, and it is not uncommon to see the sun disappear behind clouds and animals scurrying when such an event takes place. Being a 19 year old and hopped-up on hormones (and kinda after the affections of Cynthia), he also doesn't mind occassionally flashing his impressive genitalia at both unsuspecting friends and strangers alike - much like another 19 year old we know.
By that I meant me.
Mr Spontaneous is misunderstood. He is not really a mean person, just misguided; his whole motivation for doing spontaneous things such as pushing people in front of cars and singing Robert Palmer karaoke tunes at inappropriate times (eg. Funerals) stems from his growing up in a household where both parents were accountants. See, he's not the criminal: he's the victim.
At this time Spontaneous' real name is not known - although it is certain that, as web-surfer interest inevitably wanes, it will be revealed in a vain attempt for hits. To his friends he is simply 'Sponty' or - in a more Fonz-like fashion - simply 'S'.
Monroe
Long-time friend of Spontaneous, Monroe has complete and unwavering admiration and respect for his beloved 'Sponty', and is often heard to be complementing Spontaneous on another fine pushing over of an old lady, stealing of valuable merchandise or other such feats of spontaneity.
However, Monroe is not just a simpering sidekick; he also has backbone and 'spunk', having earned several 'Spunk' badges in the Boy Scouts before he was kicked out for not being able to attain his 'Haberdashery' badge.
Monroe has a tiny crush on gal-pal Cynthia but is shy about it, prefering bouts of awkward teenage flirting and trying to impress by throwing rocks at cars to actually telling her how he feels. He also respects the fact that his (mainly) non-sexual crush on Sponty is somewhat a conflict of interest - he would much rather suck up to S than try his hand at romantic conquest...and really, wouldn't we all?
As a footnote, despite Monroe's admiration of Spontaneous, their relationship has never crossed the line from boyish interplay to intense homosexuality - with the exception of a, quote, "mistake at a school camp 10 years ago".
Cynthia
The first female to appear in the series, Cynthia knows how to have fun but is, quote, "not a tool about it like the others". Her maturity often confuses Spontaneous and Monroe, who are taken aback when she doesn't want to 'smell their farts' or 'come and ride in the shopping trolley!...C'arn!!!...'. She is attractive and intelligent, but occassionally believes she was in Vietnam and begins to shake at the sound of helicopters; this is, however, a rare occurence.
She has a thing for Spontaneous, but often wonders why; the first time they met, S asked her if she was "a lesbian", in yet another brazen impromptu act (this one particularly impressed Monroe). She moved to the town with her family (her father is a famous and successful manufacturer of 'Wildlife, No-More-Life', a range of wooden bats for clubbing pesky wildlife to death) around half a year before the first episode and soon befriended our 'heroes'.
Cynthia (shortened to 'Cyn', and if you need that explained, just stand still while I club you with this Wildlife, No-More-Life bat) hopes to one day attain a law degree and open her own practice, specialising in 'Showbiz Trials Of The Century' such as the one seen with O.J. Simpson.
Hamish
Hamish is in many ways incredibly similar to Cynthia...except he is a male - males and females are different, y'know - and, like the other three, has the hots for Cynthia (but is a hundred times more bold about it). He is fairly level-headed, and is often to be seen rolling his eyes at Mr S's antics. However, not much is known about the 18 year old - coming to town with few roots and somewhat of a 'bad boy attitude': think Luke Perry as Dylan McKay in 90210, only around 50 years younger.
