Electronic Basics
There are some just general things you should know before starting to make a Tesla Coil.
Ohm Law is a good place to start. I will attempt to make it clear what they are.
Current (Amps) is represented by I, so if you see I*E then you know I means current.
Voltage (Volts) is represented by E, so if you see I*E then you know E means voltage.
Ohms (Resistance) represented by R, so if you see I*R then you know R means resistance.
Power (Watts) represented by P, so if you see P/E then you know P means power.
Say you have a 6 OHM resistor and 120v. Then you would use the equation with R and E in it that ='s I
You should get 20 Amps, you can just as easily find power too.
The following will find current given any 2 of the other 3 values.
E / R = I
P / E = I
Square root of ( P / R ) = I
The following will find voltage given any 2 of the other 3 values.
I * R = E
P / I = E
Square root of ( R / P ) =E
The following will find resistance given any 2 of the other 3 values.
E / I = R
P / IČ = R
EČ / P = R
The following will find power given any 2 of the other 3 values.
E * I = P
IČ / R = P
EČ / R = P
