VII Station:
"Peace hath her victories
No less renowned than War."
-John Milton
Pax Station was organised following the
destruction of the Millenium Dome at the Conference of 2268. As a
result, the Unlerion Treaty was agreed upon by the Major Races
and it served to establish a Diplomatic Corps on the surface of a
planet in nuetral territory. According to the terms of the
treaty, the station was built by human technicians under Minbari
design specifications and is now managed by the Volkunes. The
JumpGate servicing the system was built, of course, by the
Centauri. At a later time, the Narns provided a security force in
orbit around the station. The Minbari later sent their own task
force after the Volkune Democratic Society took over the Station
and attempted to impose their Xenophobic policies upon the
Station.
But, recently it
has become a hotbed of open and illicit activity, with the
constant backdrop of the increasing Shadow menace ever-present
and every power in the galaxy pursuing their own agenda.
The resurgent
Centauri Republic is busy forging alliances with the minor races
and preparing its military for their next great task after the
subjugation of Narn. They are more prepared than ever to
use military and economic power to get their way with other
races. On Narn itself, resistance to the Centauri is
growing and the stretched security forces there are resorting to
ever more brutal reprisals to try and control the population.
The
Minbari maintain a powerful squadron of Sharlin cruisers in
the Unlerion system, and together with the recent addition of a
smaller Centauri force they have fought several engagements
against increasing numbers of raiders. Recently, both
Centauri and Minbari ships have been lost in action, something
almost unheard of for the Minbari and no source of pride for the
Centauri either.
Earth Alliance whilst
diplomatically active, has no forces in the system and relies
increasingly on their special relationship with the Minbari to
protect their interests. New Terra is seeking separate
understandings with other races and a new conflict appears to be
on the horizon unless EarthGov is prepared to see colony worlds
break away from its control.
The Vorlons seem to
have withdrawn from the picture altogether, with no Ambassador at
all on Pax now and no sightings of them anywhere for months. The
Shadows are still operating in the background, but recently their
ships have attacked Centauri vessels and no one knows what they
plan to do next.
The League worlds
follow their own agenda. Currently closely allied with the
Centauri, some like the Drazi and Gaim are also building forces
to take advantage of any weakness shown by the major races.
Other League worlds just hope to avoid any notice in the coming
storm.
The Volkunes are
engaged in a struggle for recognition. The original
Monarchist group is in residence on Pax and has always enjoyed
recognition by the other powers as the true Volkune
government. Recently the heir to the throne was born on the
station and is now closely guarded against any assassin.
But now the Volkune Republic who are in control on the
Volkune homeworld are pressing their own claims for recognition
and are themselves established on Pax.
Both raider and
smuggler activity has increased greatly in recent months.
Rumours abound of a new paymaster on Pax pushing cargo prices
through the roof and the raider activity has shown a level of
intelligence and co-ordination not previously seen in the sector.
The year is
2263. The future of the Galaxy is in the balance.
They're here!!
Pax Station is a place where people can meet to
discuss problems, work out alliances, and ultimately has the
authority to try terrorist criminials in complete neutrality. It
is also a place where merchants trade, strange things happen, and
people generally have fun.
The Pax Mission Group was set up in July 1998
when our groups needed to split again. The Commanding Officer of
Pax at the time was Soo Fitzgibbon, aka V'thtashi Harun de', who
was formerly the Executive Officer of the Vol Mission Group, the
first Mission Group. Soo has now been promoted to Senior
Moderator, being the last of the RPG "First Ones", and
has turned over command of the Pax Mission Group. Most of our new
players enter through the Pax Mission Group, where they learn the
basics of the game.
It was discovered in our second mission that the
Shag Toth base was bobby-trapped, and it was through the direct
intervention of the Entity that it's senior command staff escaped
with their very lives. A telepathic beam began to filter the
Psionic life force from Tirest of Vorune (then Chief of Security)
and V'thtashi Harun de'. Through the link it maintained with
V'thtashi, Entity was able to restore the life-force of Tirest of
Vorune (awakening memories of his former existence in the time of
Valen) and V'thtashi. They have had a form of bond ever since.
While we try to maintain an even spread of Races
on Pax Station, some of the other groups stick pretty much to one
majority race. At the moment, we have :
Volkunes |
2 |
Human |
5 |
Centauri |
2 |
Minbari |
1 |
Narn |
1 |
Other |
