There are alot of sequels and a prequel this year planned in the movie business. I know your saying: "hurry up and tell me what they are" so I will, The prequel is of course Star Wars: Episode 1. The sequels are: Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The World is Not Enough (a.k.a James Bond 19), Toy Story 2 and Mission Impossible 2. For this little 99 preview I will be only talking about these 4 movies because they are the most interesting. Ok lets start the list.
Star Wars: Episode 1
This has to be one of the most anticipated movies of 1999. Just when the Trailer came out in theaters everyone got excited and began talking about it more than the movie they just saw. This will be a good movie, with Greorge Lucas Directing it. Starring in the movie is: Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd and Samuel L. Jackson. This movie is far away from the originals and you can't recreate a classic but George Lucas will get pretty close. It takes place before the original 3 with younger versions of the originals charters. This is a must see. This is due out in theaters May 21 of 1999.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
Everyone thought the first Austin Powers was funny, well almost everyone. There had to be a few critics (Including my Dad) but lets hope a sequel doesn't ruin the original's hippie charm. It was a pretty good movie. Mike Myers is returning for this one so you can all relax. Can this live up to it's loopy predecessor? Well see. This movie is out June 11.
Mission Impossible 2
Tom Cruise? Kicking butt again? You bet! This movie was never expected but it's on it's way. Who could forget the train scene where the attached helicopter flies into the tunnel? And the rope scene when he can't touch the floor, and lets not get started on the music! Hold on though, Shooting hasn't ever begun and it isn't expected to come out until December 17. It could get pushed to 2000. I'll have more as I receive it.
The World is Never Enough
Another top star returns for a movie... yep Pierce Brosnan. He said he was through with Bonds, not the savings kind either, he meant the movie. This just proves that money makes people do things. Why do you think there are hookers? This just proves my theory. I don't have much more on this movie except that it is expected to be out November 19.
Toy Story 2
Nah, this can't possibly
be good, we'd all rather see a Bevis and Butthead
sequel. I mean look at the sequels for The
Lion King and Beauty
and the Beast. I mean I hope this is good
but don't hold your breath. I doubt it will be as great as the first one.
It certainly won't be in the running for the Thanksgiving movie either
because that is when it is due out.
