BIOGRAPHY

Well you've come this far so obviously you're curious about me! Allow me to introduce myself, then. I am Patrick, born May, 1971 in Harrisburg, Pa. I grew up in the town of Hersh\y, PA, which is a relatively quiet town despite the annoying tourists that swarm there year-round. After graduating from Hershey High I moved to Indiana, PA to attend the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I studied French, Art History, and, very briefly, music. The two things I enjoyed most about IUP were the marching band (which forced me to come out of my shell and even taught me a thing or two about how to party!), and the semester I spent away from IUP in Nancy, France. It was here in France that my love for the French language and the culture of the country became evident. I also discovered the joys of traveling and have since suffered greatly from the travel bug.

After receiving my BA in French, I took part in IUP's annual program where 2 graduates are selected to teach English in a French high school for one school year. I was placed in Lens, a small town just south of Lille, the capital city of Northern France. This was a phenomenal year in my life...both professionally and personally.

Upon returning back to the States I decided I wanted to continue my studies in the French language at the graduate level. I am currently enrolled in the French and Italian Department at the University of Pittsburgh as a Graduate Student and Teaching Assistant. My program of study is French Literature and Linguistics, and I hope to get involved with Foreign Language Textbook Editing upon graduation.
