Weekends in the Midwest

Where has everyone gone?
Is everyone retired or on leave except me?

How wonderful to hear from someone today.
Of course, I did hear from Carlene much earlier this morning.

Nah...that was yesterday's news. ;)
You are not alone, although I am trying to figure out
which stack of paper I should shuffle through next...
Hmmm... file 13 is lookin' good. :)

I am back from the dungeon.
When I dig out of this inbox, I'll be back!
Miss you guys!

I'm here, but not for long!
Leaving today to go ride some real roller coasters
instead of the one here ;).
Have a great holiday, everyone...

No, my friend, Carlene and I are still here, slogging away.
We have been busy away from our desks most of the day,
with such thrilling things as interim performance appraisals,
xeroxing and faxing.
You are not alone.
Does anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend?
I don't!

We are going to enjoy our pool,
celebrate our 22nd anniversary with a nice dinner somewhere,
riding roller coasters tonite
and watching a terrific fireworks display on the riverfront on Sunday...

Sounds wonderful! Have fun!

I informed my mother that we will not be doing the family
reunion in Iowa this weekend, so I'm reasonable (never
free...sorry) The weatherman is promising more heat,
so I think I'll be sucking up the a/c indoors as much as
possible. I did my working in the heat last year, so I am
"on strike" when it comes to more than pettin' the pooches.
:) I don't get too excited about that, but one of them
does. ;) Cleaning puddles in the back room.

My brother and his family from Indianapolis are coming to
town Sunday. I just have to go to my mother's house to see
them. It's not too bad at my mother's except when she
starts talking politics. My mother thinks it is great that
the politicians are "downsizing" the government, but she
can't understand why the government would want to get rid of
my wife and me. What can I say? :(

Mom loves you?

Tell her about my wild things...
get her mind off the politics issue. :)
Someone told me to change the subject once not too long ago... :)

Okay, speaking about changing the subject, did I tell you
about seeing a whole flatbed truck loaded with 8" PVC pipe
on my trip back from your house? Visions of a gatling
cantaloupe gun flashed through my head.

Melon Man

Now, has your wife authorized you to purchase a trailer to carry it
around on? If a standard spud gun is almost as tall as I am, you
would need a trailer for that one!

Seeing that 18 wheeler gave me the idea. All those tubes
were stacked nice and neat in a rectangular form. There
must have been about 150 barrels, ah., I mean pipes. We
would just have to hook up a swivel and then some
hydraulics for elevation.

My hunting buddy owns a trucking company. I'll check with
him to see if he has a spare tractor and flatbed trailer.

So, friend, what next? Are you planning on hiring yourself out
to some farmer to seed his vegetable garden (way over
there, like in Iowa!) for the spring (from your back porch
in Yutan), or what? I can't imagine the 5 barrel one we saw
on the net...talk about going through some spuds! We are
talkin' some serious produce here. Do you have to do the
dumpster diving thing in back of Baker's to reload, or what?
Our friend already has his plastic card to shop at my store... ;)

You're right, with the price of cantaloupe, a multiple
barrel cantaloupe launcher might be too expensive. I've
already helped to make the grocer branch of the Baker
family rich, I don't need to keep contributing.

What...no 4"? Oh, btw...using hair spray as a catalyst has a draw
back if the gap on the ignitor is off. Meaning, someone has
to blow some oxygen into the chamber after 3 misfires. No.
I do not volunteer for that. You will be proud of our
ingenuity, though. If you are really careful, you can
launch cucumbers. :) The trick is in not exerting too much
pressure when loading, or it comes oozing out the back.
See, you did a good job changing the subject...:)

Good idea Carlene. Now I think you have given me an idea
about how to get rid of some excess zucchini!

Well, my guys already know how to do that...cake, bread,
and shredded for freezing so that they can have these things
in the winter, too. :) There is no such thing as excess
zucchini...what sacriledge! ;)
Now, that summer squash...whole nuther matter. ;)
Watching the boys gag and writhe at suppertime...

What is the URL on the spud rockets?
My boss will be appreciative for such info...

Go to any search function on the internet. Type in "potato cannon",
"spud gun" ect. There were 5200 websites identified from
hotbot. I really did not realize that so many folks were
into this...Kind of scarey, huh? :)
