Hi. This page is dedicated to Karen Carpenter, the greatest female vocalist the world has ever seen or heard. Not only that, she was a really nice person who died much too young.
A couple of years ago I drove by the Newville Avenue house in Downey, CA that is featured on the cover of the Now and Then album. Karen lived here in the early and mid 1970's with her brother Richard, the driving force behind the Carpenters, and her parents, Agnes and Harold, who are both deceased now. I also drove by Richard's nearby home (he has since moved) and visited Karen's final resting place at Forest Lawn in nearby Cypress.
