Jeff's
Karen Carpenter Page

Hi. This page is dedicated to Karen Carpenter, the greatest female vocalist the world has ever seen or heard. Not only that, she was a really nice person who died much too young.

A couple of years ago I drove by the Newville Avenue house in Downey, CA that is featured on the cover of the Now and Then album. Karen lived here in the early and mid 1970's with her brother Richard, the driving force behind the Carpenters, and her parents, Agnes and Harold, who are both deceased now. I also drove by Richard's nearby home (he has since moved) and visited Karen's final resting place at Forest Lawn in nearby Cypress.

Below are links where you can read my Downey trip report , with links to my picture pages where you can view recent pictures of the Newville Avenue home, Richard's home, and Karen's crypt.

Thanks for visiting!
Jeff

The definitive Carpenter's site used to be the Newville Avenue page. There, you could join a discussion group of Carpenter's fans from all over the world, and find links to all kinds of Carpenter's sites. This was a marvelous discussion group that is fondly remembered by its members but, unfortunately, the list had to disband. While no list has yet matched the Newville list, serveral others tried. The one I am a member of, though I have been mostly a lurker in recent years, is called Offering . It is moderated by a fine man named Lee. Two good websites that have some excellent links to other Carpenters sites are the Carpenter's Fan Pages and Julies' Best of the Carpentes page. Please check them out.
