... More on my trip to Arizona!!
On Sunday, we attempted to hike to Robbers Roost. This is not a very popular trail, so we didn't encounter too many people here. Dave parked the car on the dirt road - we went as far as we could by car, then went by foot for a while. However, the car was in the way of a truck that was heading back towards the highway, so the driver had Dave hop in to give him a ride back to the car so that he could move it. Dave hiked back to meet me where he had left me, and we continued on the path. I had stopped where I could see the "roost" and I heard some drumming and chanting. When Dave met up with me, we continued down the wrong path... and decided, when we could no longer see the roost, to turn around and head back for the car. I was a bit tired by then...
On our car-ride back to the campsite, Dave asked me a rather loaded personal question, and while I began to ponder it, a red snake crossed the road in front of us... hm... We passed the site of the snake and immediately came upon a buzzard... again hm... :) Must have been a rather important question!!
On Monday, Dave and I undertook the hike to Boynton Canyon. It is one of the several vortices in the Sedona area, the others being Bell Rock, the Airport, Cathedral Rock, and others whose names escape me for the moment. There is alot of information on the internet about these vortices, and Sedona has many tour operators that take people to all of them.
Boynton Canyon is a 1.5 hour hike in and a 1.5 hour hike back to the car. We also spent about an hour on the rock itself. There were quite a few people walking along the trail, but it wasn't overcrowded. Dave felt quite a bit of energy on this rock - but then again, he's much more open to that than I am at the moment. I concentrated more on the actual hike, as it was such a long one for someone who doesn't exercise... :) But it wasn't a difficult hike in any way. I just wish I had brought more water with me!! Oh, and watch out for rattle snakes... Dave came REALLY close to one :)
After this hike, we drove up to the Airport's scenic view and took a few pictures of the west side of Sedona. We drove back into town, and found out that there was a vortex on the way up to that view... So we turned around and drove right back up there. Half-way up to the view, there is a place to park your car. We walked up for about a half minute before reaching the vortex, but not knowing that was it, we continued walking along a trail which gave some nice views of Sedona as well. We went back to the vortex, and Dave found some medicine wheels off the beaten path. We sat there for a while. That is where I felt the most connected to the rock.
I felt that I could remember what the area looked like before the town was built. Dave asked how long ago that would be, and I instinctly said 100 years ago. I explained that the road we were looking at (the southern portion of the 'Y') divided the energies of the area, and that the rock we were sitting on was sad about that. What I meant was that the rocks on the other side of the road were not as able to communicate with the rock on which we were sitting. I felt an exchange of energy with the rock and had a sense of recognition from the rock. It was very powerful for me!
