TI Crest here! |
TI motto: With Fidelity and Discipline??
Location: Defunct (formerly Margaret Drive)
Info:
Last batch 1994, closed end of 1996 I think, or add one year each.
The last of the Centralised Institutes to close down? I can still
remember the day I went to register, being my first choice, followed
by Outram and Jurong I think. Not a happy customer then.
Only stayed 3 months, but felt I belong there. I actually bothered to
attend the orientation and actually enjoyed it more than I would have
imagined. Can still remember some of the mindless things we were
subject to. Somehow I had this infamous Timmy Thomas song "Dying
Inside To Hold you" associated with the school, especially the
orientation. Guess it was the "hot" time period where it
was played to death... yeah I think so...it was played during
orientation and we got this Carpe Diem T-shirt.
In class, I was for once the smarter ones, and had the opportunity to
help others out. Imagine that happening in RV! I also remember doing
very well in Accounting which was a new subject for me. The lecture
hall was a little dinky (and different from NJ's) but not that bad.
Who knows what would have happended if I had stayed on for the 3
years? A more laid back environment with less competitive people in
general... just what I needed... perfect for me in hindsight.
This is also the place where I saw what I still consider to be the
prettiest Singaporean girl I have seen, and probably will ever see.
Serena Yeoh from St. Margaret's. She was in my class, who eventually
went to Australia to study I think. Anyway, I already applied for
early enlistment and then overseas (Aussie probably) not feeling
optimistic about the O's. Then the O level results came out and I got
a L1R5 of 13 (and a -2 bonus for Chinese), feeling so thrilled that I
shelved the early enlistment idea, and boneheaded apply for NJC
(why?). And just as cockup got accepted to Science stream S4a.

Qifa motto: Strive To Excel
Location: West Coast Ave
Info:
Got bounced to this "new" school as the first batch cos we
had moved to West Coast from M'sia (It had roots further back under a
slightly different name.) Spanking new buildings, nice environment. A
good way to start the 3rd year of Primary......
to be continued...... Sis left the place with a PSLE 282
aggregate, one of the best then for the school, and me a modest and
unlucky? 249.... I'm actually a prefect....
[much more].....

Marsiling motto: Ilmu Suluh Hidup (Knowledge lights up our life)
Location: Woodlands
Info:
Stayed for two years. My first "real" education.
Unfortunately, not much impression. But for some strange reason, I
remember the "windows", with beehive-like holes in them.
The ceiling and the walls were designed to allow for good ventilation
or was that Qifa? Anyway, the most vivid thing about going to this
school is the daily trips across the causeway cos we still lived in
JB at that time. there was this special green card that we had to
carry then. It was kind of an adventure everyday cos sometimes u get
longer lines than usual and u afraid the bus is going to leave u
behind. But of cos never happened. I remembered this particular White
bus, which is not the best or newest in the fleet but some reason my
favourite...the driver's nice too.
Oh wait, I do remember something about the school, the narrow
driveway. there is only 1 way into the school, so u leave the way u
came. Yeah, I can visualize it in my head. Very muddy, narrow roads,
there was construction going on. I remember this grassy slope beside
the school with big trees, a lot of us hang out there, catching
grasshoppers, playing with those styrofoam planes, or some other
trivial activities. The Marsiling crest is a beauty....maybe
more....
