The Conversation

G: G’day, Wayne!

W: Hello, friend! How are you?

G: Good. It is a very good day for fishing, eh?

W: Yes, it’s a good day. Where’s your boat?

G: Here’s my boat! The yellow one next to you! Jump in. Sit, sit.

W: Where are we rowing?

G: Look! There, the fishing grounds! Here we are! We’ve arrived! Pull up the crayfish pots!

W: Cor! The crayfish are big and fat! They look delicious! Put them in the sacks.

G: Good. I’m starving! Here, now pull up your fishing line!

W: Alas! Our snapper has been eaten! By a shark, perhaps!

G: Never mind! We’ll go and gather paua (abalone) and mussels.

W: Yes. How many crayfish are in the bags?

G: Nine. Very good, eh?
