Adding Sounds / Videos How do I add sounds to my web pages? How do I add background sound to my web pages? How do I add videos to my web pages? These and similar questions will be answered in this tutorial. GeoCities supports the following sound file types: AIFF, AU, RA (Real Audio), RM, WAV and WRK files. Its servers also allow the following video file types: AVI, IVS, MOV, RealVideo and QuickTime (QT) files. PROCEDURES 1. If the sound or video files you want are stored somewhere in the world wide web, download them to your hard disk. 2. Upload the sound or video files from your hard disk to your GeoCities homestead. 3. Edit the HTML code of the file where you want your sounds or videos to appear. Since this tutorial is under the intermediate section, we presume that you're already familiar with uploading and downloading files as well as editing HTML pages -- topics that have been discussed in the basics section. If you're not familiar with them, please click on the links below. Do note that the tutorials referred to by these links will all appear in a new browser window. WARNING It is essential that you have understood the contents of all the tutorials above before you embark with the rest of this tutorial. In this tutorial, we will discuss the codes necessary for you to successfully add sound or videos to your HTML files. You must include these codes in the body -- between the and tags -- of the HTML file where you want your sounds or videos to appear. NOTE Before continuing, make sure that the sounds or videos you want to include in your web page has already been uploaded to your GeoCities homestead. Though it is possible to include sounds or videos in your web pages that are not present in your homestead and are still in other sites in the world wide web, it is more proper and safer that you have the sounds or videos file in your homestead.
